The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) is going to need a new love interest if Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) doesn’t return. Boaz was fired abruptly and doesn’t seem likely to make a comeback.
Of course, Y&R could always recast Chance – potentially with Ordway’s real-life husband Justin Gaston again.
However, it’s equally possible that Chance will simply go missing on this assignment. There might even be extreme danger that leads to Chance being presumed dead. For now, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Abby’s moving forward with this surrogacy and hoping Chance will return sooner rather than later.
Abby’s trying to trust in the promise Chance made, but things could get complicated after Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) offers to be Abby’s sperm donor. If Abby decides she’s on board with that idea, it could lead to a new love story eventually. Y&R writers might use this baby to pull Devon and Abby closer?
Abby’s been close friends with Devon for quite some time, so there have always been some fans out there rooting for a Devon and Abby pairing. Could those fans get their wish?
Let’s say Devon’s sperm donation plan pans out and becomes the bio dad of Abby’s baby, which Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) has agreed to carry.
Mariah’s all about being the “cool aunt,” so Devon may want to pitch in as a “cool uncle.” Without Chance around, Devon might help Abby do things like put together a crib, paint the nursery, etc.
It’d be an easy opportunity for Devon and Abby to bond over the baby that’s coming into the world – the baby that they made together.
Naturally, we also have to think about what happened the last time Devon agreed to donate sperm. Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan) wanted Devon to be the father of her baby and insisted he didn’t have to be involved.
Devon ultimately agreed on the condition that he’d co-parent with Hilary because he didn’t like the thought of walking away from his own child.
That alone tells us that if Devon’s written in character, he’ll indeed have trouble walking away from the baby he intends to give to Abby. Not to mention Abby will be lonely without Chance and wondering if he’ll ever come back to her.
If Chance is indeed presumed dead somewhere down the line, then Abby might lean on Devon for comfort.
