The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will await new Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) DNA results, but will the test reveal the truth or a rigged outcome? Let’s consider the clues Y&R’s offered so far and try to figure out where this hot plot is headed next.
Naturally, it’s possible that everything is just as it seems. Kyle may be Harrison’s bio dad like Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) claims since they were hooking up during the right time frame. Tara told Kyle she already had a paternity test done, which revealed that Kyle was the “baby daddy.”
However, Kyle hasn’t seen proof for himself, so he’s going to need that. If Kyle’s going to claim paternity and help Tara stand against Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi), he’ll have to provide evidence that’ll hold up in court.
Of course, we can’t help but feel like something has never quite passed the smell test with Tara’s character.
Summer Newman (Hunter King) was suspicious of Tara’s claims from the get-go – and she’s repeatedly argued that Kyle’s former flame can’t be trusted. Kyle is always quick to defend Tara and act like he knows her better than Summer, so all of this could be a setup for Kyle to be wrong.
After all, it certainly works out for Tara that she’s got a backup father option now that Ashland’s trying to have her declared an unfit mother and take her son away. Perhaps knowing who Ashland is and how he operates, Tara created this as a contingency plan.
If that’s the case, Tara might have to resort to some DNA test tampering that could perhaps be revealed later. It’d be a great story twist if Kyle gets attached to this kid – only to find out down the road that he was manipulated into thinking he was Harrison’s father.
That’d still leave the door open for Kyle’s firstborn child to belong to Summer when the time comes.
Nevertheless, complicated families are the norm on soaps, so it’s equally possible Tara’s story is true and the new DNA test results will serve as legit father confirmation.
It all depends on what direction the writers want to go in, but the results Kyle gets back should be a match – whether those results are real or tampered with. The story has to continue and that seems like the only way for it to happen.
