East New York Recap 11/06/22: Season 1 Episode 6 "Court on the Street"

Tonight’s episode begins with Regina and her team has been tasked with moving a number of homeless people from an encampment since it is private property. The people are obviously upset. Many need help packing up. Marvin sees an old acquaintance passing out meals. She acts very distantly.

John stops by his mom’s house. He helps her with a remote. On his way out he sees a couple arguing. The man hits the woman. John intervenes and finds a gun on the man. The woman starts hitting John. He has to push her off. People around them begin to record the incident.

A woman helping at the encampment loses her son. One homeless man is found to have the boy’s phone. He tells them he found it on the steps leading to the subway. The mother and the father who just arrived are obviously upset. Regina must now deal with a missing child. Regina heads back to the precinct to work on the case with Stan and Tommy.

Regina’s team works the streets and runs into a reporter. They ask for her video footage. She cooperates. Meanwhile, Brandy testifies on Morales’s behalf on a case in court. Brandy gets upset and emotional when her mother is brought up. The suspect’s lawyer suggests because her own mother is a heroin addict that she had bias when arresting his addicted client.

John arrives at the precinct and learns that a video from his arrest earlier in the day has been edited and put on Twitter. It shows him pushing the woman to the ground without any context. Meanwhile, the reporter’s video footage shows the boy being abducted in the background.

John’s superior tells him things don’t look good. Across the hall, Regina and Stan watch as their suspect named Henry – in the missing boy’s case – is interrogated. Stan has to step in when he won’t talk.

Brandy and Morales speak outside the court. Brandy doesn’t want to go back into the courtroom. Morales encourages her to go back a separate her life from her job to protect people.

Regina tells the missing boy’s parents about their suspect, Henry. They know him and believe he wouldn’t do anything to the boy. Stan continues to talk to him while Regina learns a registered sex offender works near the encampment at the food pantry. Marvin heads to talk to the man named Lloyd who tries to run when he sees him. He denies knowing anything about Isaac, the missing boy.

Regina and the team regroup and realize they have nothing in the missing boy’s case. Meanwhile, Marvin comes clean about having a romantic relationship with the woman in the food pantry. It didn’t work out and had a lot to do with his job as a cop.

The reporter who helped supply footage on the missing boy also captured John’s encounter. She wants to help him if the precinct gives her more information on breaking situations.

Regina and the team talk to Henry more when a homeless man comes into the precinct. He has seen a man in an orange vest hanging around the encampment and at the food pantry. He is always talking to Issac. Henry confirms the existence of the man they call motor man, he works in transportation. They get an address and head there.

Brandy manages to take the stand and get the job done without becoming emotional. Regina and the team find Isaac. He is alive and physically unharmed. Marvin asks his old flame to dinner. She accepts! Henry and Isaac are reunited. Regina gets teary-eyed.
