General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, July 8, teases that Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) new dating match was revealed while Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) caught Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) in a clinic lie.
At GH, Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) confessed that she signed up for Society Setups, so Britt hoped she’d have better luck with the matchmaking service.
Since the hospital was short-staffed, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) popped up and thought she could help after checking herself out of Shadybrook.
Britt pointed out that Liz still had to go through HR for the proper clearance, so Liz got agitated over all the red tape.
Elizabeth said that “the Britch was back and britchier than ever,” so Britt thought Liz had better leave while she still had a job.
Liz argued that Britt couldn’t fire her since she was union, so there was plenty of tension going on.
Terry backed Britt up, but she remained concerned about Liz’s mental well-being.
Britt didn’t know what was going on with Elizabeth, but she knew Liz couldn’t bring it to work with her like that.
Afterward, Liz had a heart-to-heart with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton), who was worried she might’ve checked herself out too soon.
Elizabeth no longer wanted space and said she’d realized her life was better with Finn in it. Although Liz was sorry about all the drama they’d been through, she kissed Finn and hoped they could put everything behind them.
In the park, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) eavesdropped on Anna’s phone call and questioned why she was digging into Valentin’s private medical records.
Anna was cagey and seemed offended when Victor acted like there was no trust in her relationship with Valentin.
After Anna argued it was the people around Valentin she didn’t trust, she got a call back from the clinic once they had verified her credentials.
A doctor confirmed Valentin was a patient there, but the dates didn’t line up with the ones Anna provided since he only stayed a week.
Once Anna hung up, Victor asked if there was a problem – though he didn’t get a response as Anna took off.
Meanwhile, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) bickered over his op-ed and all the printing details.
In the end, Gregory and Alexis made a wager that she’d entertain his views if the feedback supported him. If the feedback went against Gregory, he’d stick to teaching.
At the Quartermaine stables, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) chatted with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) before she alluded to the problematic men in her life.
After Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) interrupted, he admitted to looking into Cody’s background.
Ned couldn’t help but notice that Cody didn’t stay in one place very long and wondered if they should be looking for his replacement.
Cody assured Ned that he was right where he wanted to be doing exactly what he wanted to be doing. Once Olivia was alone with Ned, she scolded him about how he handled the situation.
Ned suggested Olivia was right, but he felt he was looking out for Leo Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) since he was already fond of “Cowboy Cody.”
After Ned apologized for leaving Olivia out of the loop on his ELQ decision, she confirmed that they were still a team.
Ned got the scoop on Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) losing her half of the Metro Court and thought they could buy it for her, but Olivia pointed out that Carly already turned down that plan.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Valentin suggested a drink between friends and got a bloody Mary while Laura Collins (Genie Francis) ordered an iced tea.
When Valentin talked about how Port Charles had thrived under Laura’s leadership, she questioned why he was speaking about her tenure in the past tense.
Valentin acted like he misspoke before Laura stepped away momentarily – giving Valentin a chance to drug her drink.
Once Laura returned to the table, talk turned to Charlotte Cassadine (Amelia McLain) and her text thanking Grandma for the care package she received.
Laura had nice things to say about Valentin’s role in Charlotte’s life and admitted Anna was fond of him as a kindred spirit.
After Laura hoped Anna’s faith wasn’t misplaced, Valentin managed to knock the glass out of Laura’s hand and acted like he was just clumsy.
Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) witnessed the chaotic spillage and seemed suspicious as Valentin left.
Kevin also revealed to Laura that Liz had left Shadybrook. When Laura asked if she should be worried, Kevin wished he could say no.
When Anna showed up, she realized she’d just missed Valentin. Laura wondered if everything was all right, so Anna admitted she wasn’t sure but intended to find out.
Back in the park, Victor asked if it was done. Valentin confirmed that it wasn’t and added that Laura remained in perfect health.
After Valentin said he failed, Victor scowled and reminded Valentin that failure wasn’t an option.
Back with Cody, he smiled over the Society Setups notification on his phone.
Britt got one as well, but she sighed and rolled her eyes over Cody being her supposedly perfect match.
By the Metro Court pool, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) patched things up following their recent fight. Brook Lynn touched Chase’s knee at one point in a close moment.
After Brook Lynn mistakenly assumed Chase was now in on her popstar plan, he told her to pump the brakes.
However, Brook Lynn acted like the rewards would be worth the risk and nearly kissed Chase before they pulled apart.
Once Brook Lynn showed off the video from Leo’s birthday party, Chase saw how popular it had become and seemed more interested in the prospect of fame.
Brook Lynn felt confident that she could take Chase far in this new career path and make him a household name.
General Hospital spoilers say Chase and Brook Lynn have some intriguing new adventures ahead of them, so stay tuned!
