General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) experienced some house fire horror when the GH star’s home was set ablaze by a discarded cigarette. TMZ reports that Friday the 13th turned out to be a truly unlucky day for Monaco when she awoke to flames outside her windows.
Monaco was thankfully able to make a quick getaway, but the fire spread from the front lawn and wound up engulfing chunks of the house.
Sadly, the result was massive damage that’ll cost a fortune to repair.
Now Monaco has been displaced from her home and won’t be able to move back in for quite some time.
As for how this fire started, it was a case of carelessness and a tragic fluke.
According to arson investigators, someone threw out a cigarette butt that was still lit in the empty lot right next to Monaco’s place.
That cigarette butt ignited the blaze that could’ve destroyed Monaco’s home completely if the fire department hadn’t arrived in time.
Monaco handed security footage over to the cops as part of the investigation, but they don’t think the fire was started on purpose.
Even so, this is certainly a terrible outcome that could’ve been avoided.
Many soap fans have been voicing their support for Kelly Monaco on social media and hoping better days are ahead.
Now Monaco is spreading the word about the dangers of tossing cigarette butts out like this.
The GH actress wants everyone to know the devastation something even this small can cause.
Our hearts go out to Kelly Monaco as she deals with this crisis and works to make her home livable again.
