General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) may be headed for a new love story. Will the real DNA results bring a ticking time bomb that’ll blow up another GH romance?
Maxie’s relationship with Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) already seems to be on the verge of destruction.
Austin has been keeping major secrets related to his family and committing crimes at the hospital through secret procedures.
Of course, Mason (Nathanyael Grey) also mentioned Austin making some deals with the devil in the past.
All that’s on top of the fact that Damian Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) algorithm indicates Austin isn’t a good match for Maxie at all.
The fan reaction to Maxie and Austin as a pairing has been lukewarm at best, so maybe the writers are actually going to listen and shake things up.
It looks like Maxie may lash out once she realizes Austin has kept Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) Huntington’s disease diagnosis from her.
Naturally, Austin couldn’t reveal Britt’s medical info without her consent, but this could still create confusion and add to the overall feeling that Austin can’t be trusted.
After Maxie and Austin face off around the time of Britt’s birthday bash, Cody will step up and try to provide some comfort. Maxie will be able to lean on Cody if she chooses to.
Britt may make a big confession to clear things up for all of them, but that won’t change her plans to leave Port Charles and deal with her condition on her own terms.
This would be the perfect excuse for Cody and Maxie to grow closer.
Cody’s going to need a love interest with Britt headed for the exit door, so Maxie may slide in her spot and fall hard for him.
Unfortunately, that’d mean trading one secretive boyfriend for another!
Cody has been dishonest from day one in Port Charles, but his worst offense from Maxie’s perspective will inevitably be his DNA test results lie.
What happens if Maxie falls for Cody – only to realize he deceived Mac Scorpio (John J. York)? Cody’s decision to hurt Mac like that for a shot at the necklace inheritance will infuriate Maxie.
There’s also the tricky sort-of sibling situation since stepdad Mac is Maxie’s main father figure.
That’s a bit icky, but it may end up being something Maxie and Cody can ignore down the road since it’s not like they’re related by blood.
Even so, Cody hurt Mac deeply when he lied about not being his biological son and robbed Mac of that chance to be a dad to him.
Mac may get that opportunity after all once the truth comes out, but it’ll take a lot of work for him to forgive Cody – and that goes for Maxie, too!
