General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that we have to consider who is gaslighting Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) with that creepy wedding ring move. The mysterious culprit will soon be revealed, so let’s look at the options and try to nail down what GH writers are up to.
For starters, we should acknowledge that someone indeed moved that ring with a goal in mind. It was a significant moment when Liz decided to stop wearing her wedding ring and placed it in her kitchen drawer.
Liz was trying to let go of her past with dead Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and move forward with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton).
When Liz went to get her date dress from her work locker, she was rattled to see that the wedding ring fell out of the pocket.
Naturally, we have to ask who put it there and why. On January 10, Finn and Liz will speculate that one of Liz’s sons might’ve been behind this.
Finn will feel like maybe one of Liz’s boys has a problem with him or the fact that they’re dating.
However, that just doesn’t seem likely since Jake Webber (Hudson West) is never around and Aiden Spencer (Enzo De Angelis) clearly likes Finn.
Cameron Webber (William Lipton) is too old for something like this and supports the idea of Liz’s happiness anyway.
Liz will also contemplate the possibility that one of her sons was trying to do a good deed – thinking she simply forgot to wear her ring. That still seems like a stretch, so we’re betting there’s another explanation.
It’s possible Liz is having a bit of a breakdown and doesn’t remember moving the ring to her dress pocket. Liz has honestly never taken the time to grieve properly, so she might be driving herself a little crazy here.
Nevertheless, we also have to mull over the possibility that someone is trying to mess with Liz.
Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is suddenly attempting to beat the Franco murder charges, so maybe he hired someone to help with some sick game.
Even Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) could be caught up in this somehow.
Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) has also been in Cameron’s house before and is on the verge of making major trouble for him.
Esme was quite intrigued about Cameron’s impulsive and reckless side coming out after Franco’s death, so there’s a chance she fits in this Liz ring story.
It’d be interesting if Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) were behind the gaslighting in preparation for some return stint down the road.
GH could deliver a wild twist if Hayden is trying to stop Finn from moving on with her own sister.
Still, it’s tough to imagine why Hayden would be lurking around town wasting time with some gaslighting plot instead of just reuniting with Violet Finn (Jophielle Love). That’d be difficult for the writers to explain, so it may not be a reasonable route to take.
Regardless, there has to be an explanation for Liz’s wedding ring being moved.
