Tonight’s Blue Bloods episode beings with Liam getting out of prison and Jamie picking up a guy who he put away, at the first the guy is reluctant, but Jamie tells him it includes a hot meal and a couple of drinks.

Danny and Maria arrive on the scene, a man, around sixty years old was found dead. The victims name is Shawn Hutchins, who goes by the nickname Shy, no signs of a struggle. His son comes on the scene, his name is Erik and he asks Danny what happened. Maria asks if his father used drugs, he says no, his dad is in the neighbourhood to play chess.

At church, Erin is there to see pastor Clay, she tells him the music and sermon was great. They walk, he tells her that he needs her help. Ten months ago his nephew Devon was arrested. The arrest has been tearing his family apart and he wants her to look into it. No favours, preferential treatments, just a look at the case. He knows she is planning on running for DA and he would be more than appreciative and back her.

Sid is figedy, he stops by to see Frank. Sid asks for help, a woman, not just a woman, a detective, Laura Acosta, he worked with her, she got hurt on the job a few years back. She wakes up in pain every day, she needs to retire because of the pain, the medical board won’t give her full disability.

He was hoping Frank could talk to the board on her behalf. Frank asks him if she is pretty and how well he knew her. Sid says he got it wrong. Sid says the ask isn’t coming from him, it is coming from Danny Reagan.

Jamie takes Liam back to the area where he lived and he is surprised about how much it is changed. Jamie tells him that he always felt the sentencing he got was harsher than what he deserved. Laim agrees. Jamie says he was a Rookie cop and he was one of his first cases, and he felt like he got railroaded by the prosecutor.

Danny and Maria go to speak to Nick, who found Shawn’s body. Nick tells them that Shawn was quiet, he didn’t even speak to his son, they were on bad terms and Shawn wrote him out of his will. Nobody saw anything and nobody knows anything.

Detective Acosta stops by Frank’s office, Sid is there as well. She tells him how she got injured, on a case, but that case belonged to Danny, and she did him a favour. She thinks he is harbouring a lot of guilt because of it, and she doesn’t feel he should, he was just doing his job.

Danny and Maria go to see Erik and find out that he hasn’t spoken to his dad in seven years. He and his dad stopped speaking because Erik moved in with his wife before getting married and his dad was a religious man. HIs father did start sending him letters years ago but Erik didn’t open them, he gives them to Danny. He also offers to talk to the guys in the park, the ones who play chess, he knows them since he was a child.

Anthony goes in to see Erin and tells her that someone has already pulled the case files for Devon, her opponent Kimberly Crawford. He says whatever game she is playing, she is playing too.

Liam and Jamie are sharing a drink.

Erin goes to see Kimberly, asks her for the file and what is going on. Kimberly says she is late for her meeting at the mayor’s office.

Erik drops by to play a game of chess with Nick, Danny and Maria are with him. Nick tells them by asking questions they are going to get someone else killed. There was a gang hanging around the park lately, they have been dealing more and more frequently and Shy used to hang out with one of them, play chess with him. That is all he got. Danny wants a name, Nick says he will end up like Shy.

Erin meets Kimberly outside, she gives her the file, pastor Clay is playing them both. Erin asks if they can work together to find justice for Devon.

Danny and Maria got their name, Damian Richards, they go see him. They mention Shy and Damian says he helped him with his chess game, but he knows nothing. Damian lets slip that Erik was around asking questions, but he is not as smart as his dad and he may not be lucky next time.

Frank is in a bar, he meets up with Danny for a drink. Frank asks why he didn’t go to him directly. Danny says he is just trying to do a good cop a solid.

Kimberly and Erin go see Devon in lockup and ask him to give up some of his friends, so they can help him. Devon says if he talks they will hurt his little brother.

Liam is on the job, and he is having a hard time, technology has changed a lot since he was locked up and gets frustrated. Thanks to Jamie he gets to keep his job, as an apprentice.

Frank tells Henry, tells him that he sat down and had a chat with Danny, told him not to do what he did, and get married again. Frank says towards the end, Mary made him promise that he wouldn’t be alone, he is hardly ever alone. Henry tells Frank that Danny wouldn’t have gone through all this trouble over his cop friend unless it meant a lot to him.

Jamie arrives on the scene of a suspect with a weapon, hostages and demands to talk to Jamie. Jamie goes in and there is Liam who says he messed up. Liam says it is too late, Jamie doesn’t want to shoot him but says he will if he has too. Liam says inside he knows what is what, outside he is lost. Liam gives up the gun. Jamie handcuffs him.

Danny goes to see Erik and tells him that Damian really liked his dad and put his life on the line to tell him who sold his dad fentanyl. And, before his father died he went back to his lawyer to change his will again, his dad knew he was going to die, he intended to, that’s the way its look. His father left everything to him, he loved him and didn’t blame him for anything, Danny gives him back the letters and tells him to read them.

Kimberly tells pastor Clay that since Devon is talking things will go well for him. Erin walks in and says surprise, tells him that he should say sorry. Erin tells him that have opened up a file on his new charity, there seems to be a misallocation of funds, and isn’t that new Ferrari outside his. They two leave and leave shocked pastor Clay.

Danny meets Laura at a bar, he tells her that he wants to celebrate her retirement and she will get her full disability pension. She thanks him and he says it is what she deserves.

At Sunday dinner, Erin notes that Danny looks dressed up and Jamie asks if he has a hot date. Danny says it is just dinner, it is not a big deal. Eddie wants to know her name. Frank says maybe it is nobody’s business. Danny says it is Laura. Everybody gives their advice.
