Days of Our Lives (DOOL) recap for Wednesday, August 9, reveals that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) apologized to Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) and surprised him by seeming sane. Ava admitted the meds worked fast and assured Harris that her recent outburst was nothing personal.
After Ava opened up about her Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) hallucinations, she told Harris about Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) being stolen from her as a baby and how it led to her being ice cold to Charlie.
Now Ava’s doctors thought her guilty conscience was manifesting these Charlie visions. Ava admitted an innocent woman passed away because of her – and it wasn’t the first time she’d caused someone’s demise.
Harris understood what that felt like and gave Ava updates on being brainwashed multiple times.
Ava insisted what Harris did wasn’t his fault, but he argued that she wasn’t to blame for her mental illness either.
Since Ava was afraid of seeing Tripp and potentially lashing out at him again due to a hallucination, Harris wondered if she’d really just cut off contact forever.
After Harris suggested Tripp wouldn’t want that, he convinced Ava to invite him for a visit.
In the town square on Wednesday’s Days episode, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) delivered news to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) about the unfair bakery shutdown and how the acting mayor was going after her.
Johnny got distracted briefly by Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) going in the Salem Inn with her overnight bag, but he turned his attention back to Chanel and opened up about his trip to New Zealand.
Chanel fished for information about Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) and the new man in her life, so Johnny reluctantly admitted he was pretty great.
Although Johnny seemed worried about Chanel’s feelings, she seemed truly happy for Allie.
Talk turned to Johnny’s breakup with Wendy on Wednesday’s DOOL show, so Chanel wondered if Wendy at least gave him a reason why she chose Tripp.
Johnny flashed back to Wendy thinking he was still in love with Chanel and seemed torn about whether he should spill that.
After Tripp swapped schedules with another doctor, he met up with Wendy in their Salem Inn suite on Wednesday’s Days episode.
Tripp and Wendy admitted to being nervous about their first time together, but they eventually decided it didn’t have to be perfect since this felt so right.
Before Wendy and Tripp could hit the sheets, they were interrupted by a call from Bayview.
Tripp learned that Ava wanted to see him, so Wendy pushed him to go right away and promised to be there when he returned.
Next on Wednesday’s Days episode, Tripp met up with Ava at Bayview, so they embraced in a tender moment.
In therapy with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) acknowledged her romantic feelings for Chanel and got some advice to talk to her.
Soon after, Talia interrupted Johnny’s conversation with Chanel before he could divulge the reason Wendy dumped him.
Johnny took off in a hurry, which gave Talia a chance to hear about the bakery drama and come clean about her own romantic feelings for Chanel.
Although Talia acted like Chanel would probably never feel the same, she suggested maybe Chanel could let her know if she did.
Chanel suddenly seemed insecure and scared of talking about all this, so she bolted from the town square and left Chanel looking bewildered.
Back in Marlena’s office, Johnny arrived to see his grandma and wanted to talk to her about his romantic feelings for Chanel.
At home, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) helped Abe Carver (James Reynolds) practice his memory cards before Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) showed up needing to speak with him.
Paulina explained the whole situation with the bakery and how Clint Rawlings (Grayson Berry) was targeting Chanel as the acting mayor.
After Paulina pushed Abe to take back his position, Kayla cautioned him and clearly thought he was rushing his recovery.
However, Abe wanted to help Chanel and give himself a sense of purpose, so he agreed to resume his mayoral duties and left Paulina thrilled.
