In tonight’s Seeking Brother episode Kenya was officially taking a second husband. She even invited her kids to her second wedding. It wasn’t going to be a legal marriage. She was still married to Carl after all. She was marrying Tiger in a commitment ceremony and her kids were fully accepting of the situation.
The kids are used to their parents as well as their parental figures. Tiger helped raise them. They love him as a stepdad. They know they can turn to him for help if they couldn’t get in touch with their parents and so their mother’s plural marriage was something they accepted a long time ago. This new commitment ceremony was just a way to officially mark Tiger as being a member of their family.
Kenya was making taking a step forward with Tiger. Kim on the other hand was thinking of taking a step back with Vinson. Kim really likes Vinson. He gets along with her husband, Dustin. She was happy to include him in her life. Only Vinson didn’t want her to keep dating. Kim chose this poly lifestyle because she likes the freedom that comes with it. She likes being polyamorous. She doesn’t want to settle for monogamy by staying true to Vinson. It’s likes he missed the point of their relationship to begin with.
Kim talked about it with Dustin. They had a date night. They talked about her future with Vinson and she said she might have to take a step back. Vinson doesn’t want her to date. He wants her to be with him or with Dustin. No one else. He failed to understand Kim on a basic level and Kim found herself changing to keep him rather than being accepted as she was. Kim didn’t choose such a hard life to have someone doubt her every move. She made a decision. She wants people in her life that respect that decision and Dustin was standing by her all the way.
Elisa was in a tough situation, though. She and Mike had dinner with their mothers. Mike revealed that they got into an open marriage because Elisa cheated on him first and then they discussed it. His mother did wonder if that affected his decision. He hadn’t shot that idea shoot down. He actually thought about what his mother said and that’s why he wasn’t entirely sold on this lifestyle. He and Elisa were later having a day at a beach. She mentioned that she never wants kids or to fully settle down just with him. She wants the poly lifestyle for the rest of her life.
Elisa knew this about herself. Mike was the one that was questioning it for himself. Mike was fine with the polyamorous lifestyle now, but he didn’t want to tire himself forever to it. He thought he might feel a little different twenty years from now or when they were elderly. He thinks maybe he will want something else. It’s why he never shot down the idea of kids with their families. He remains open to a lot of stuff that Elisa claims she will never want. Elisa has made up her mind. She realized it the moment she first cheated on him that monogamy or kids were out of the picture.
Chara was going in a completely different direction because she wants kids. She wants to get pregnant. She went to her gynecologist to check how easy it would be for her to get pregnant and, in spite of a few fibroids, she was told that everything looked good. She has the ovaries of a twenty year old. She also has two men in her life. She has a husband and a boyfriend. Both of them were there at the appointment. They were both introduced as the possible father. Patrick wasn’t entirely sure if they were ready to add a baby to the mix. He thought Valentino might need more time.
Only Chara wasn’t the waiting type once she had an idea in her head. She wanted a baby right away. She started trying right away and there were still a lot of things to negotiate. Valentino didn’t live in the same state as she does with her husband. They were technically in a long-distance relationship and they needed to discuss what will happen if a baby comes along before they got things ready. The guys were just about to bring that up with Chara when Chara admitted she was late. She was three weeks late and could already be pregnant.
Kim would later asked Vinson to meet up. She wanted to talk to him about what he wants. She admitted that she thought he was a monogamist and he confessed he wasn’t too sure about what he wanted for himself. They ultimately had to break up because they both wanted different things. The former couple went their separate ways. They were now free to be who they are without judgement. And hopefully they both find what they’re looking for.
And Carl later married Kenya and Tiger. They had a beautiful wedding with family and friends around them. Kenya also left the door open for more brother husbands in the future.
