General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans were treated to a big surprise at the end of the primetime special to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary. Once the special aired on ABC, their huge news was also shared on GH’s official social media accounts.
In a promo called “When One Door Closes,” Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) popped up with an important announcement to make – one that points to his future in Port Charles.
In the clip, Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) can be seen coming out of a door and hinting about what people say when one door closes.
Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) then points out that it leads to another one opening as she emerges from a different door.
Finally, Steve Burton comes out of a third door for the exciting announcement that everyone’s buzzing about.
“Happy anniversary, General Hospital!” Burton says in the promo. “Stay tuned. Big things are coming to Port Charles.”
Of course, this is the show’s clever way of revealing that Burton is indeed on his way back to the ABC soap as Jason Morgan.
There had already been speculation about Burton’s GH return since he recently said he was done filming as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives.
SOD confirms that Burton’s comeback as Jason is happening and that he’ll first air early this year.
It’s also interesting that the show put Laura Wright and Kelly Monaco in this promo with Steve Burton.
It could be an indicator of a potential love triangle if Jason is perhaps torn between Carly and Sam down the road.
Sam and Carly are certainly the two most important women in Jason’s life – or at least they were until he seemingly suffered a grim fate.
The show will have to undo Jason’s presumed demise, but that won’t be difficult since his body was never recovered following the cave-in that he supposedly didn’t survive.
Jason Morgan’s return is still in the early stages, but there’ll eventually be more details about how he’ll come back on the scene and what it’ll mean for the people he cares about.
For now, Jason fans are going wild over Burton’s surprise announcement. This is the time to celebrate and look forward to some long-awaited reunions in PC!
