In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Liam Glasser’s life didn’t return to normal once he was released. His wife still left him. She was fighting with him over custody. He held onto his skeezy lawyer because that was the only guy willing to represent him. Even if Family Law was a different beast to Criminal Law.

Liam was actually on his phone with his lawyer when he went to get the mail and a drive-by shooter began firing at him. Liam turned out alright. He mostly used his mailman as a human shield so that poor mailman was rushed to the hospital.

The LAPD were first on the scene. They checked the scene. They wanted to be diligent and that meant they had to enter Glasser’s house. Some of the bullets got inside. The police needed to collect them.

This proved to be an issue with Glasser’s lawyer. His lawyer claimed that the cops wanted to plant evidence after a malicious campaign to destroy Glasser’s life didn’t work out. They were now suing the city for six million dollars. Its because they were suing that the city demanded that the cops above and beyond for Glasser.

Glasser got twenty-four hour police protection. He also got himself a new girlfriend. Her name is Daisy Gallagher. She was inside the house during the shooting and she claimed not have heard a thing. She instead offered to make the cops breakfast if they were sticking around. Glasser’s house on the other hand was showing its age.

After his initial arrest, the families of his victims lashed out. They often came by to attack the house. It didn’t matter to them that his wife already filed for divorce. They forced that woman out until she fled to her parents’ place with her kids.

Glasser was acting like his ex-wife was the unpredictable one. He knows he’s a serial killer. The cops just don’t know how he got another man to take the fall for his crime. They have theories. They don’t have concrete evidence. Glasser in the meantime needed around the clock protection. Nolan and Penn took the first shift.

They escorted him to family court. He was supposed to take a side entrance and he ignored it so that he could catch his ex-wife with their son. The son doesn’t know what his dad did. All he knows was what Glasser showed him.

Though the fact that someone targeted Glasser at his house helped his ex-wife. She has a restraining order in place. She could prove that the kids being around him was a threat to their safety.

The cops later determined what kind of gun was used in the shooting. They ran that across the victims’ families to see if any of them bought a gun recently. The gun used wasn’t typical great for drive-bys. It could account for why the shooter missed so many times. It also posed a problem for Nolan. Nolan and Penn did their jobs.

They had to sit in court while Glasser spun a story about being a great dad. He claimed that the cops maliciously tried to prosecute him. He said the unjust system has already cost him time with his children and that he couldn’t bear it to lose any more.

The judge seemed to be buying what he was selling. He and his ex were leaving court when they heard that their son was missing. Some other woman picked him up claiming to be his mother. They locked down the building. They eventually found the woman that took their son, Theo.

It was Glasser’s girlfriend. Daisy said she was going to be his stepmom. She denied calling herself a mom. She also said she’s met Theo before during his supervised visits with his dad. Daisy also told Miranda how hard this must be for her to see that Glasser moved on.

Miranda came back with the statement that he killed eight people. She doesn’t care about moves on first. She thought the incident with her son and Daisy was a set up. She thought Glasser was trying to paint her as unfit and he might’ve done more than that.

There was a record showing that Miranda bought the same gun used in the shooting. She denied doing so. She said that Glasser wants her to look unfit and so Detective Harper told her to not let him win. She nearly lost her career over this man. Miranda couldn’t afford to lose custody of her kids to a serial killer.

She had to buckle down for this one. The detective was helping her while the person after Glasser tried to kill him in front of the courthouse. They shot Penn. They even shot Nolan when he took a bullet for Glasser. Glasser was the most surprised by the last one.

He must know how much Nolan hates him. He tried to kill Nolan after all. Yet, Nolan still honored the badge when he took a shot from a shotgun. His vest caught most of it anyways. Glasser will live to kill another day.

Nolan was out on leave because he injured his ribs when he heard from Miranda’s lawyer that she went AWOL with the kids. She didn’t listen to Harper’s advice at all. There was some good news on tonight’s episode. Tim Bradford was going to propose to Lucy Chen. His mother found out about it so she came over with his grandmother’s ring.

The ring was big. It was gaudy. It wasn’t to anyone’s taste nowadays. It also was fake. The diamond made from glass. The family always wondered how PopPop managed to get a big ring right out of high school. Now, Tim needs to find a new ring and he asked his mom to go shopping with him. They both know Lucy well enough to get a ring she’ll actually like.

And Wes going into private practice with Sean started with a referral from Monica. Monica got them into a whole bunch of trouble with that referral. It turns out the guy was going broke.

He threw a party to scam people out of their money and it ended someone getting killed. The body was dropped at the client’s house. He didn’t want to report it. Lopez got a warrant and she found him cutting up the body. He either goes away for life or he gives up the friend who told him to throw the party.

And if that much trouble wasn’t enough, Monica tried to turn double agent by befriending Aidan Warner. She got him to kill his number two and she was hoping to earn a place for herself there.

THE END!
