The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Christian Newman (last played by Alex Wilson) could land at the center of some new storylines soon.
Christian has spent almost his entire childhood off-screen, so maybe it’s time to recast and age him up a bit for some teen drama.
Now that Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have taken over as Y&R’s co-head writers, you can bet the show will feel a lot different in the months ahead.
O’Connor and Giddens will deliver some fresh material, so that could include some teenage stories since we haven’t seen those in a while.
Christian’s name consistently comes up in family discussions, but it’s disappointing since we never actually see him these days.
It’s weird for Christian to constantly be off-screen when there’s a big story just waiting to be told about him.
Although Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) raised Christian, he’s biologically the boy’s uncle.
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is Christian’s bio dad, so Y&R needs to work this angle at some point.
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) finally connected with Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) as his birth mom, so Adam might start longing to connect with Christian sooner or later.
That’s especially true since Adam’s been thinking about the baby girl he lost now that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) has a new child with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) on the way.
Adam will always love Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) with all his heart, but Christian is his flesh and blood, too.
Christian found out his paternity when he was too young to really understand, but he’ll certainly get it if a teenage recast hits Genoa City.
We could imagine Christian going a little wild in his teen years and perhaps exhibiting some Adam-like traits that Nick doesn’t approve of.
Christian might find himself drawn to Adam, so that could bring some conflict with Nick once his drug addiction recovery story is over.
Although Nick is an excellent dad – at least based on what we’ve been told about Christian’s off-screen upbringing – it makes sense that Christian might want to bond with his biological father sooner or later.
Christian might come on the scene as a teen and insist on spending time with Adam, so that could set off alarm bells for Nick.
If Christian starts acting out, it could leave Nick concerned about him inheriting Adam’s dangerous side.
