Miley Cyrus was twerking on stage with Robin Thicke jut for years ago. She’s been all over the place when it comes to her music and image. The former Disney star has had two bad girl moments – the first one on her Can’t Be Tamed album and the second on Bangerz. She later ditched her hip-hop persona for a new hippie outlook. She even collaborated with The Flaming Lips on her free EP, Miley Cyrus & The Dead Petz.
Miley Cyrus is at it again. She’s just being Miley, but who is Miley really? Even the singer doesn’t know who she is. She claims that her new music is who she really is in her new cover story for Billboard. She ditched her dirty hippie persona for a softer and feminine look. The pop star, who previously revealed she’s genderfluid, is dressing more like a girly-girl these days. She’s seen rocking daisy dukes, pink dresses, and pigtails in the accompanying photo shoot.
Cyrus wants to put her twerking past around her. She said that she’s embarrassed by her Bangerz era. She won’t be swinging around on wrecking balls anymore. Those days are gone. Now that she has her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth back in her life, she has become a changed woman once again.
She’s desperate to clean up her act in an effort to attract country music fans. She’s well aware that the country music scene makes musicians a lot of money. After all, her dad is Billy Ray Cyrus. Cyrus says she wants to focus on her songwriting abilities. She no longer wants to sing about smoking pot. She even admitted to Billboard that she has since given up the habit.
“I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever (gone without it),” she said. “I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do.”
“But if anyone told me not to smoke, I would have not done it,” she continued. “It’s because it was on my time. I know exactly where I am right now.”
Miley seems desperate to get back onto the music scene. She has a new song coming out on May 11 called “Malibu,” which is a love song dedicated to her fiancé Liam Hemsworth. It’s the lead single from her sixth studio album coming out later this month. Miley admitted that this new direction in her life is something different.
Those who love her “Backyard Sessions” may like this new music era. But to others, it comes off as another desperate publicity stunt. Cyrus is still confused with who she is as a person. She’s seen Lady Gaga, another shock artist, come back to the public’s good graces with her “Joanne” album. It looks like Cyrus is just latching onto whatever music trend is hot at the moment. It has worked for other bad girl pop stars in the past.
