In tonight’s The Rookie episode Officer Aaron Thorsen returned as part of the joint task force with the FBI. He returned as plenty of people needed an outside view. Nolan was considering moving for his wife’s career. He would have to start over at the bottom again.
Only it would allow Bailey’s career to take off. He now has to decide which was more important. His marriage or his career because Bailey seemed she really wanted to take the job. It’s not like he could chose long-distance. He spoke with Miles. Miles tried long-distance with his girlfriend and starting over in a new city wasn’t something his ex wanted. And there was also Celina.
Celina was dating Rodger. He was on his European tour. Its hard to get a moment to talk with them being in different time zones. Luckily, his tour was coming to an end. He was coming homes or at least closer to home. Rodger probably doesn’t know about Celina flirting in the field to get answers.
There were two cops that were shot supposedly on duty. They claimed they went to meet with a criminal informant and that he turned on them. He shot the both of them. Right away, Lucy felt something was off about the scene.
Everything about it was off. This included where the cops parked their car out front. They got out in a hurry and they wouldn’t need to do that for an allegedly safe meeting with their CI.
The ballistics also didn’t match up. There was need for them to be at opposite sides of the room to again meet with an informant. Not unless it was them that shot each other. Celina then flirted with the crime scene analysist to get him to give them answers as soon as possible. He later determined that Lucy’s instincts were right. The cops had shot each other.
Why? The informant they tried to pin their crimes on gave the detectives an answer. Salvatore was kicked out of the Narcos for being too crazy and he did try to fight cops when they came to arrest him.
Nolan was able to take him down without bloodshed. Something the dirty cops didn’t account for. They thought Salvatore would die in a shootout. He ended up surviving long enough to say that Deputy Ian Coleman has a type. He likes choosing young female rookies because the married man likes sleeping with him.
Coleman was a predator. He also shot first. His rookie was Colleen White. She threatened to reveal their affair to his wife and he shot her twice. She in turn shot him back. Colleen was willing to make a deal. The second their story got busted, she came clean in return for testifying against Coleman.
Its time he stops preying on younger officers. Though Colleen will face trouble for the whole lying about Salvatore. She could’ve killed him. It’s a good thing he loves a brawl. The next one might not be casualty-free.
Back at the station, the joint task force followed Monica’s lead. Monica had told them about a next gen communication system operated by the top one percent of criminals. The feds wanted access to that system. They knew one criminal on it and he had a personal connection to Aaron.
Aaron once served time in prison in Paris. His friend on the inside looked out for him. He protected Aaron. He never asked for a return favor. Aaron was asked to bust a very real federal investigation in order to get his former friend to trust him. And call the network.
Aaron played his part. It was a one-off. He warned his former friend about a real investigation. He called into the network like the feds expected and they traced it to under a river.
Nolan with his construction background realized pretty early on that it was an underground tunnel. Like the ones the Narcos used. He showed them from which building the criminals were accessing it and then he asked to be a part of the team to join in. Nolan did this in order to give himself some facetime with Garza.
Nolan needed to know if he could join a federal taskforce. Garza was honest with him that the rules have changed. The cut off was now at thirty-five. It was like that with most federal investigative services.
Unless he was already a fed. Garza also said that if somehow got to join that it was highly unlikely that he would be assigned to DC right off. Which showed that Bailey’s plan for them to move wasn’t doable. Nolan couldn’t move. He would have started with DC Metro at the bottom again and it would be a step down for him.
The joint task force later took a beating. The criminals bombed the network cell tower hoping to move elsewhere. One of the federal agents got hurt. He was quickly taken to the hospital where he was given a great prognosis. Nolan also took a straight beating and Garza saved his life.
It got Nolan thinking. He was already doing great work there in LA. There was no need for him to move so he later told his wife that he wasn’t moving. He also asked why she has a pathological need to be on the move?
Bailey was a woman that hates a day off. She has to have projects lined up. She could never just sit in the quiet. He thought it was cute until she was all set to move to DC without asking him. Nolan still loves her. He wanted to know what drives her to never be happy where she is and Bailey couldn’t answer him.
She stormed off. Yet Nolan had bigger things to worry about because Monica got into contact with her old criminal friends to warn them that the network was compromised. She was hoping to reclaim what she lost when she made a deal with the feds.
To be fair, she was never going to settle for an apartment in the Valley. Harper in the meantime dealt with her daughter’s online presence. She became a kid influencer. Something her mother wanted her to stop until she changed her mind. She realized that it was something her daughter was proud of.
She couldn’t take it away only she could make it safer for her to be online. She was a cop after all. She knew the tricks to staying safe. She was also there to support Lopez and Wesley when he announced his candidacy for District Attorney. James showed up too.
James helped Wes write his speech but Wes had to heavily edited out, the burn it down, radicalism.
THE END!
