Well, there is finally confirmation today that the showmance between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder is kaput. Celeb Dirty Laundry has been reporting that at best this couple was in serious trouble for months now. The last time that we saw them looking lovey dovey was at Elton John’s Oscar party. On that night Nina had tweeted about special things happening and I have to believe that a split from her boyfriend of nearly three years wasn’t exactly what she had in mind!
After that night the two appeared to go their separate ways in spite of The Vampire Diaries fans insistence that they were just trying to keep their relationship a bit quieter. We have watched Ian fly solo for months tackling personal appearances and his beloved charity work with no comments about his former live-in-love. As Ian kept busy Nina dropped some clues via her Twitter. She tweeted about trying to get through to someone and chipping away at walls. Clearly she was struggling with something as we watched her join equally single gal pal, Julianne Hough for a few girls trips.
Nina carried on like a woman who had been left in the dust, that still had a shred of hope that her relationship might be saved. When she and Ian flew to Toronto last month to visit a sick teen it was clear that the love had been replaced by a lot of other feelings. Ian looked pissed off while photos showed Nina upset and chain smoking. Ultimately it’s pretty clear that these two split a few months ago , probably at Ian’s hands. He tweeted something this morning about people changing without telling anyone and that seems to be the case. Something simply shifted for him that maybe he can’t even explain and it took Nina a few months to come terms with it. Now that she finally has, the confirmation has come.
