'True Blood' Recap: Season 5 Episode 2 'Authority Always Wins’ 6/17/12

Tonight on HBO is an all new episode of True Blood. On tonight’s show Bill and Eric meet Salome and become acquainted with the Vampire Authority’s interrogation techniques. If you missed last week’s show called ‘Turn, Turn, Turn”, we have a full and detailed recap here for you.

Spoiler alert: If you’re one of those people who doesn’t like spoilers, stop reading now! We have some juicy spoilers for you about the season 5 episode 2 of HBO’s “True Blood”.

When we last saw Tara she was going for Sookie’s throat.  Tara was shot at the end of season 4 and we were not sure if she was coming back – but Lafayette convinced Pam on last week’s “True Blood” premiere episode to turn Tara into a vampire.  Pam did warn Lafayette, because Tara was shot in the head, she might not be normal.  In a clip for tonight’s episode “Authority Always Wins,” we see Tara trashing Sookie’s kitchen.  I have a feeling she is not the old Tara anymore.

Official HBO synopsis of tonight’s episode: Eric and Bill try to keep their wits about them when they’re put through the interrogation wringer at the Vampire Authority headquarters in New Orleans. Meanwhile, Pam recalls her first meeting with Eric in early 20th-century San Francisco; Alcide turns his back on Marcus’ wolf pack; Emma’s grandmother comes between Sam and Luna; Steve Newlin wants what he thinks belongs to Jessica; and Jason’s womanizing comes back to haunt him.

We have been wondering when one of my favorite actors Chris Meloni would be first appear on True Blood and TV Line is confirming that he will appear on tonight’s episode. “Meloni’s Vampire Authority bigwig turns up this Sunday,” confirms TV Line.  Chris is playing Roman, one of the oldest vampires in town.

Another new character making their debut on tonight’s episode is Rosalyn Harris who is being played byCougar Town andGeneral Hospital actress Carolyn Hennesy.  Rosalyn is a member of the Vampire Authority and has been for a very long time and calls Texas her home.  In a recent interview Carolyn described her character as “Big hair, a string of pearls, great gams, and a dash of whiskey in her blood cocktails (oh, how she misses steak).”

Bill, Erica and Nora are dumped out of the truck and are brought to the Vampire Authority Headquarters where they meet Salome.  Nora tries to convince Salome she did not betray them.

Salome takes Bill, Eric and Nora down to the Vampire Authority underground headquarters and they are thrown in a cell.

Marcus’ pack is eating him and Alcide is asked if he is hungry  by one of the pack members. Alcide refuses.  One of the pack members calls Alcide a coward and threatens to open his throat.  Marcus’ mother goes after Alcide and tells him – her son was not perfect but he deserves respect.  Alcide tells her he disagrees.  She tells him as the new pack leader it is his obligation to eat.  Alcide tells her he is not interested in the job as pack leader and that she should find someone else.

Luna picks Sam up and tells Marcus’ pack she is taking him back.

Arlene is sleeping and Terry comes up to her and tells her, ‘They are all going to die.’  She asks him what he is talking about and he tells her he is tired and crawls into bed.

Tara is still making a mess of Sookie’s kitchen.  Lafayette brings Tara a bottle of True Blood and Sookie tells her she has to eat.  She jumps on Lafayette and her fangs come out, before she can’t bite him and she jumps off.

Over at Fantastic, Pams back at work, she is having flashbacks to San Francisco in 1905.  Pam was a Madame and she goes to see one of her girls and finds her dead.

Back in current time she calls Eric and tells him is he is mad at her that’s okay, but they have a business to run.  She asks him to call her.

In the underground cells in The Vampire Authorities’ Headquarters – Eric and Bob hear a voice welcoming them. Bill tries to convince the voice to release Nora. The power goes off to the cells then all of a sudden the sunlight starts shining in and they start burning and then it stops.

Luna tells Sam that the bitch is out of her mind if she thinks that she is going to hand Emma over to them.

Sam tells her if Emma is a wolf she may need the pack.  Luna goes insane and tells him he either has her back or he can get the F*!? out and he leaves.

Lafayette and Sookie have to get Tara of the window before the sun comes up.  Lafayette cuts his wrist and Tara goes after him for the blood and Sookie puts a silver chain around her neck and catches her.

Jason and the Sheriff are driving and Jason tells him that Jessica and he are just friends.  They come upon an abandoned car. The car looks like it has been dumped, Jason finds something with the name Deborah Susan on it.  Meanwhile the Sheriff finds a vial of V and gives it to Jason who spills it out.  Jason congratulates him.

Sookie goes to the Outdoor store and it sells stakes, silver chains etc. and while she’s in the store she sees Rev. Steve on the TV.  She tells the store clerk she has a vampire problem and he recommends some things she can buy.

Terry is cooking and he starts to have flashbacks of when he was in Vietnam.  Arlene comes up behind him and he hits her.  She demands to know what is going on.  He tells her it was an accident and leaves.

When Sookie comes home she hears Lafayette’s thoughts and he is going to stake Tara, Sookie stops him.  She tells Lafayette that Tara is in there and he has to have faith and give her a chance.  Lafayette tells her he turned Tara into the one thing she hates, a vampire.  Sookie tells him that they can make a life for her even the way she is.

Rev. Steve Newlin is on TV and Jason is watching it.  Steve is telling the interviewer all Vampires want to co-exist peacefully.

A kid comes in and slaps Jason in the face.  He says that Jason ruined his life by sleeping with his mother and now his parents are getting a divorce.  The Sheriff walks in and takes the boy away andwarns Jason he better not sleep with Holly.

Flashback to 1905 with Pam and she is walking and someone is following her.  It is a man and he tells her she is lovely and she tells him she is off the clock.  The man pulls a knife and calls her a whore and tells her he likes when she struggles.  Eric comes up behind the man and kills him.

Eric tells Pam she has a lovely dress and apologizes for all the blood and gives her money to cover the cost of her dress.  She thanks him and he disappears.

Back to the current time at the Vampire Authority Headquarters, Bill is in a chair chained up and a man walks in and he introduces himself as Dieter.  He tells Bill his IV has silver in it and they find it is an effective method to make people talk.

He explains that Nora’s betrayal is punishable by the true death.  He talks to Bill about the bible on the table.  It seems the Vampire Authority believes their bible that predates the old and new testament.  There is someone named Lilith in their bible.

Dieter asks Bill if he believes in the literal translation of the Vampire Bible.  People who believe in the literal translation believe humans were put on earth as food for Vampires.

Salome tells Eric that Nora met the True Death.  She wants to know if it was Bill or Eric who killed Nan Flannigan.

Dieter is trying to convince Bill that Eric has betrayed him as they pump more silver in his veins.  Salome is trying to convince Eric that Bill betrayed him and has been reinstated as King.  Eric responds, “Long live the King.”

Jessica is having another party, she hears the door bell and opens it and it is Rev. Steve Newlin.  All the young people at the party are excited to see him, Jessica is not impressed.

Steve tells Jessica he wants to talk in private.  He tells Jessica that they got off on the wrong foot, he tells her he did not realize that Jessica and Jason Stackhouse were a couple.  Rev. Steve tells her he is ready to offer her $10,000 for Jason in cash. She asks for $20,000 and Steve says no. Steve counter offers with $15,000.  Finally Rev. Steve agrees the $20,000. Jessica tells Steve she does not sell her friends out.

He attacks her, she tells him her Dad is the King and he is in trouble.  Rev. Steve responds, “Not Anymore.”

Jessica throws him out and then throws all the people partying out of her house.  She tells them if they don’t leave she will eat them.

Arlene is talking to Patrick and she asks him if something happened in combat that might have stuck with Terry.  Patrick tells her NO.

Terry knocks on the door and see Arlene and asks what she is doing there.  Terry tells Arlene he needs to talk to Patrick on his own.  Arlene tells them to fix the problem.

Jason comes to Hoyt’s mother’s house and asks to speak to Hoyt.  He tells Hoyt he cannot believe he is living with his mother and offers him a place at his house.  Hoty tells Jason not to come around anymore they are over.  Hoyt’s mother shows him to the door and quietly thanks him for splitting Hoyt and Jessica up and tells Jason she will bake him a cake.

Luna is giving Emma hell because she won’t go to sleep and she walks into the room and Emma is a baby wolf in pajamas.  Very adorable!

Lafayette and Sookie are working in the house and Tara comes in the room and she tells them she will never forgive either of them and she runs out of the house.

Back at the Vampire Authority Headquarters Roman cuts his wrist and extracts blood and gives a drop of it it to the other members of the Authority as they swear loyalty to Lilith.

Both Eric and Bill are on their knees and bound.  Roman tells them that Nora has betrayed them after centuries together and he does not know why.  She is taken away.

Roman tells Bill and Eric that according to Nan Flannigan they have totally F*!? up.  Roman tells Eric and Bill he is the authority.

Roman ask Bill if he is a member of a movement (one who thinks human are on Earth for food) and Bill tells them he has no idea who the movement is.  He asks Eric and he tells Roman he stays away from politics.

Roman asks the members of the Vampire Authority what they think.  Rosalyn tells Roman Bill and Eric  should be put down.  The Vampire council is torn.  They know either Bill and/or Eric has killed Nan a member of the authority but they cannot decide what to do with them.

Roman tells Bill and Eric it is vital they coexist with humans.  Humans out number vampires and they have to co-exist peacefully.

Roman asks Bill and Eric if they have anything to say before they pronounce sentence.  Bill offers them an exchange their life for Russell Edgington.  Roman tells Bill he knows Russell is dead.

Eric tells Roman that Russell has broken free.  Bill tells Roman, Russell wants anarchy.  If they want peace obliterated ignore them.  Roman wants to know why they kept Russell alive.

Bill tells Roman they thought the True Death was to easy for Russell and they wanted him to suffer.

Roman jumps on Bill with a stake and tells him he wants to stake him, but he understands there are things more important than his personal desires.

Bill offers Russell Edgington to Roman as proof of his solidarity.

Next we see dead bodies everywhere and a vampire on a stretcher with blood all over him and he is licking his lips.

Russell Edgington, yikes…. the fun is about to begin!!!

The End!
