Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are reportedly back together, much to the pleasure of Vampire Diaries fans and their very passionate shippers. However, we’re also hearing that there’s a possibility of a collaboration in their future. Apparently, both Nina and Ian are discussing work on a film together, especially as both of their film careers are taking off at the same time. Ian has arguably been working in the industry for longer, but for some reason, Lost never gave him a strong enough launchpad into movies. The Vampire Diaries, on the other hand, has given him such a passionate fan base that financiers are now willing to hedge their bets on his skills as a leading man – i.e. The Anomaly.
But what would be even better is if Nina and Ian were to headline their own movie, which would allow them to capitalize on the interest from the fans. I mean, now that Ian’s out of the picture completely [as his character is dead on the show], the fans’ interest will start fading. Ian and Nina are by no means Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and the fandom will only stay invested in their relationship for so long. So why not take advantage of that interest and do a movie together?
Plus, both of their careers can definitely use the boost, since they’re primarily still doing indie movies or playing bit parts in studio movies. They’re slowly getting higher-profile roles, but if they wanted to inject some buzz into their careers, then their easiest option would be a collaboration. This industry lives and dies on the fans, and the fans of the show have already proved that they’re passionate enough.
