Since we last saw them, the government’s special forces were able to take full control of the town and round up several returnees. And it was just poor bad luck, that they also found Bellamy and Jacob before they could leave town.

Bellamy was taken into custody and according to officials he was later assessed as being unstable. They then went on to tell the Langston family that Agent Bellamy should be considered violent but during his weeklong confinement – something happened to him. And Bellamy can’t remember what. All that can he recall was that he was in custody one second and then waking up on the river bank the next.

Yet a week managed to fly by and he’s not aware of what happened!

In that week, several returnees were actually allowed to stay in town. If they had family or people to vouch for them than they were permitted to stay. As for the others – they were taken. Then there’s the people that tried to help them like Maggie that were eventually released from custody. Almost like they weren’t technically resisting federal intervention. And for the most part, the town has moved on. Many consider what happened to their town as one big hoax!

The good people of Arcadia believe the returnee “epidemic” was all some big joke. And so they’re angrier at their sheriff for bringing down the government’s on them than they are at the way people keep returning from the dead. Not that the last part is occurring all that frequently anymore.

After the sudden influx of returnees during the season finale, there’s been little to no action in the past week. Some might have even become hopeful that whatever started these rash returns from the dead was stopping just as abruptly as it started, but then a new return came along and again it connects to the Langston family.

It makes sense seeing as Jacob was the first person to come back originally. The return of his grandmother, Fred and Henry’s mother, could be what re-starts it all!

Anyways it’s not like her sons don’t need a mother. Fred has become the new town drunk and his own daughter doesn’t want anything to do with him. Plus Henry and Lucille have turned their back on him. When he came after their son – he had crossed a line.

Hence the first thing Lucille mentioned to a woman who had peacefully passed away in her sleep was Fred’s actions and how it nearly ruined their family when she was gone. It sounds a bit harsh yet she did it for a reason. Namely, Henry. Her husband can sometimes be too sentimental with his brother and she doesn’t want him to overlook what Fred did just because their mother is back. Fred is on downward spiral –it’s best if everyone acknowledges it.

Even as his family tried to reach out to him – he preferred to be out drinking. Elaine was kind enough to offer him a drive home afterwards and somehow he mistook that to mean she was flirting with him. He allowed her to use his gun and drive his cop car at full speed. But the night had the same conclusion it was always heading to – he made a pass at her and she rejected him. Why did this happen? Hmm…maybe it had something to do with the fact she’s his daughter’s best friend and they probably grew up together.

Another crossed line and then suddenly it dawned on Fred that, despite the evidence, he has nothing to live for. So he came pretty close to killing himself and what stopped him was his mother. She gave him the tough love he needed and it finally woke him up from his delusions.

The people coming back aren’t out to hurt him or the people in town!

If anything the government is what they should all be worried about! Bellamy contacted a good friend of his from inside of his former agency and she was willing to turn on him after some official sprouted the same lies to her that they did to the Langstons. The Langstons never bought that story but his friend of several years did.

She thinks he’s unstable and she doesn’t trust him anymore. Especially not after the “hoax” was revealed. So Bellamy was given two options – he could either be their man on the inside or he could join the rest of the returnees in detention.

The reason Bellamy couldn’t remember anything in the last week was because he wasn’t alive in that to build memories. He had died in custody and now he’s like Jacob and all the rest!

THE END!
