Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are fighting divorce and baby battle reports with a new animal rights campaign. The quarreling couple has cranked out a video promoted by The Human Society of United States as their relationship crumbles under the weight of arguments and fights over having a baby.
Nikki Reed is in a similar position as her former best friend, Nina Dobrev. Nikki reached fame thanks to her role in ‘Twilight’ but has seen very few (none really) substantial, career-making roles after her supporting role in the franchise. After marrying Ian Somerhalder, Reed scored a role as Betsy Ross in ‘Sleepy Hollow’ which has reheated her career.
Which is great, but Ian really, really wants kids. In fact, Nina broke up with Ian after the 36-year-old pushed her to settle down and start a family. Dobrev refused, the two split, and Somerhalder married Nikki after a quick engagement.
Now that Nikki has a several projects in the works and her role on ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ Ian’s desire to have kids has been pushed off. It’s a source of tension, and the couple are constantly fighting about having children.
A pregnancy would definitely put a hiatus on Nikki’s growing career, and Reed is very focused on cementing herself in Hollywood. The ‘Twilight’ starlet’s A-list dreams also cause issues, as she is constantly pushing Ian to score roles outside of ‘The Vampire Diaries.’ Currently Somerhalder only has 3 other projects besides TVD since his role on ‘Lost,’ which ended in 2010.
To combat the growing number of reports of Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s divorce, they have created a video supporting a charitable cause close to Nikki’s heart – animal rights. This show of unity is pretty much a positive way to do damage control to fight the divorce rumors and baby battles. Of course, Ian jumped on the animal rights trail, following Nikki’s lead a while ago.
