Nina Dobrev is thoroughly disgusted with Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s engagement ring PDA and everything else about their famewhore-style relationship. Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder want everyone in Hollywood to know that they’re engaged, so they’re not pulling any stops when it comes to promoting their relationship. Even though neither of them has anything legitimate to promote, I think that both Nikki and Ian realize that their relationship with each other is the only thing keeping them in the spotlight right now.
As such, having both of them featured in People Magazine – making out and flashing Nikki’s huge engagement ring – makes complete sense for their brand strategy. I mean, they’ve never pretended to be a demure, on-the-low couple, have they? The minute they started dating, they’ve arranged for paparazzi photo-ops and strategic picture opportunities, all the while ramping up their PDA every time they stepped out together.
This picture featured in People Magazine claims to have come as a ‘candid’, i.e. something that either a fan or paparazzi just ‘happened’ to capture. But come on! The picture shows Nikki and Ian engaged in a tender make-out session, with Nikki’s ring conveniently turned towards the camera. Oh, and will you look at that – it’s sparkling JUST right in the sun.
Who do they think we are – a couple of morons? Plus, it’s People Magazine. This screams photo-op every step of the way, and honestly, I don’t even blame them for it. Nikki Reed’s and Ian Somerhalder’s fame game has never been on point, and it’s just become increasingly desperate.
Truth to be told, I wouldn’t blame Nina Dobrev for being disgusted with the way these two are constantly staging their relationship, especially since it’s being rumored that Ian and Nina are getting close again. But if Ian is getting ‘close’ to Nina on one hand, and then engaging in ridiculous, engagement ring-flashing photo ops with Nikki on the other hand, what does that really mean for either relationship? Nikki Reed better watch closely because Nina can snatch Ian back anytime she chooses!
