See, this is one of those weird divorce stories that I never understand. Why would someone file for divorce after fifteen years of marriage? Ok, no, I take that back – why would someone stay with someone else for fifteen years, and then only just figure out that it’s not working? Patrick Dempsey’s wife, Jillian Fink, has filed for divorce from Patrick after fifteen years of supposedly blissful marriage. Except you know, how blissful could it have been?
To be fair, fifteen years is like multiple lifetimes in Hollywood, and Patrick and Jillian should be commended for making their marriage work as long as they did – especially with Patrick’s star exploding in those fifteen years and becoming a household name thanks to Grey’s Anatomy.
The couple had married in 1999, and have three children together. And from everything Patrick said, it seemed like he valued his marriage and his relationship with his wife more than anything else. He was reported as saying, “The best part about being married is feeling centered. Nothing else matters so much as long as you can come home and be with your family.”
However, he also added, “She’ll do things on her own so she can come back and be much more patient with the kids. I go car racing.”
And surprise, surprise, but Patrick Dempsey was in Daytona Beach, Florida for a racing event when his wife filed for divorce. Methinks there’s a little more to this story than we’re being told, yes? Otherwise, why would Patrick be in Florida when his wife was filing for divorce, unless the filing took him by surprise?
