Jamie Dornan might be considered one of the sexiest men in Hollywood, but the actor admits that even he is baffled by his heartthrob status. In fact, the on-screen Christian Grey recently admitted that he looks nothing like the character from the wildly popular ’Fifty Shades of Grey’ series.
Jamie Dornan has so far built his career on his model good-looks and sexy persona. After struggling with roles that didn’t give him the exposure he desperately wanted, he accepted the role of Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ because no one else wanted it. Sure, Ian Somerhalder’s name might have been thrown in the hat, but after Charlie Hunnam quit the movie before production even began, Jamie grabbed it without any hesitation.
He might be getting mocked and ridiculed for playing a sex-obsessed character that middle-aged housewives fantasize about on a daily basis, but it’s also helped put him on the map. And at the end of the day, that’s the only thing that the success-hungry Jamie Dornan wants.
Now Jamie is claiming that he looks nothing like what the real Christian Grey should look like. In an interview with talk show host Jonathan Ross, the 34-year-old actor admitted that he’s still baffled by his heartthrob status, as even he has insecurities about his own appearance.
Jamie said, “I hate my face without a beard, I swear to God I really hate it. I always think I look really young. I think when I’m clean-shaven, I look like a thumb… My own ‘Jamie Resting Face’ is what I have an issue with.”
Clearly, Jamie Dornan is only saying out loud what all of his critics have been thinking for the last two years. Jamie’s performance as Christian Grey in the first film of the ‘Fifty Shades’ series had many wondering if he was miscast, as he failed to convince some critics that he could effortlessly portray the sexy and smoldering yet intelligent Christian Grey.
While no one has said he looks like a ‘thumb,’ at least Jamie has enough self-awareness to realize that he might not have lived up to everyone’s expectations in the one role that has made him a household name.
