Kate Middleton and Prince William Distressed That Princess Diana Death Anniversary Coincides With Cornwall Visit

Kate Middleton and Prince William Distressed That Princess Diana Death Anniversary Coincides With Cornwall VisitKate Middleton and Prince William’s visit to Cornwall just happens to coincide with the 19th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. Did Prince Charles plan out this Royal tour to the Duchy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in order to distract William and Kate from their sadness?

Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997 following a tragic car accident in a Parisian tunnel. Prince Harry and Prince William didn’t learn of their mother’s death until the next morning, September 1. Over the course of the next few days the world became irate and demanded Queen Elizabeth leave Sandringham, return to Buckingham Palace and lower the Union Jack to honor Diana.

All the infighting between Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth over whether or not Diana deserved a state funeral must have been traumatic for 15-year-old William and not yet 13-year-old Harry. Uncle Charles Spencer’s nasty eulogy didn’t help things much either.

During a visit to Keech Hospice on August 24 William admitted that he misses Diana every day. The next day during a secret visit to a mental health helpline center the Duke of Cambridge begged to listen in on easy calls because he was much too emotional to handle the tough ones. Obviously the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death is weighing heavily on William’s mind.

Prince Harry recently revealed he regrets never talking to anyone about Princess Diana’s death. Certainly Harry would rather Prince William and Kate Middleton be at home either at Anmer Hall or Kensington Palace where they can draw comfort together as a family.

Maybe Prince Charles didn’t even realize the dates chosen for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s trip visit Cornwall matched up with the anniversary of Diana’s death.

Not to say that Prince Charles is unfeeling, but the Duchy of Cornwall is the future King’s responsibility and if a Royal trip is necessary Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles should be the Royal couple touring the new projects in the area.
