General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that sweeps might bring a shocker for fans of both GH and One Life to Live. Will Todd Manning come to Port Charles for a surprise visit to thrill OLTL fans? Is Franco (Roger Howarth) destined for a whole new personality in the coming days? Let’s consider it.
If you have been watching GH for a while now, you might recall that Franco hasn’t always been Franco as we know him. He has a tumultuous, often violent, history and many personalities in his past. In addition to being a serial killer and dramatic artist, he’s been someone else before.
For a time, Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) had people believing that Franco was the son of Susan Moore and the twin of Jason Morgan (Billy Miller). Heather was Susan’s cousin and she told everyone she sold Franco to Susan’s nurse and that’s why Jason and Franco didn’t grow up together.
Heather also tampered with Sam Morgan’s (Kelly Monaco) paternity test on Danny Morgan (TK Weaver) so that everyone thought Franco was Danny’s father for a while. Franco as Jason’s twin was also part of Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) thinking she was Franco’s kid and a Q. It was nuts.
But that’s not the only character shift for Franco. He was severely beaten by Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) causing a head injury. When Franco woke at GH, he thought he was Jason and kidnapped Danny to protect him from Franco.
Franco’s tumor was removed, Heather revealed she’s his mom and Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner) is his father and he’s been doing his best to be a reformed guy with a dark and dangerous past. But now Franco has another serious head wound. What will happen when he wakes this time?
General Hospital spoilers hint that he might wake as Todd Manning from One Life to Live. After ABC reacquired the character rights to OLTL and AMC from Prospect Park, Nathan Varni made an announcement saying “We are actively discussing these matters on a daily basis.”
Part of his statement also read “Any use of characters from AMC and OLTL would have to be done in the right way, a way that makes sense for the future stories of GH.” Since GH ratings have been struggling and OLTL fans would tune in to see a fan favorite like Todd Manning, it could happen.
Todd and Franco have a lot in common. Both have dark pasts. Todd was a for-real rapist while Franco’s rape of Sam was psychological, not physical. And both earned the love of a woman that proved to be transformative for their character.
There are many GH fans that would happily welcome Todd as a replacement for Franco and he was loved by OLTL fans, so perhaps GH showrunners have devised this head wound plot as a way to bring Todd onto the show. Franco could wake with a new personality.
It wouldn’t prevent him from continuing a relationship with Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) but she would have to make an adjustment to his new personality. But given how forgiving she’s been of the sins of his past, what’s a little personality twist for this blossoming super couple?
