Is Michael Fassbender the world’s new James Bond? Many people are putting their bets on the Hollywood actor to play the next 007. Right now, he’s a fan favorite to play the iconic fictional British Secret Service agent.
Michael Fassbender has been winning plenty of rave reviews and praise for his on-screen work in Hollywood. That’s why so many fans want to see him replace actor Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. In fact, many British bookmakers say that he is a 2/1 favorite to play Hollywood’s most celebrated spy.
Michael even hinted that he wouldn’t mind playing the role and even had some ideas for the next film. He modestly told GQ magazine in an interview, “Bond! Is this rumour still going round? You would have thought I was out of the bookies by now.”
Yet, Michael also said that his age might be a factor. At 39, he thinks he might be too old to be the next James Bond. But many critics point out that 48-year-old Daniel Craig has been playing James Bond for years now.
Other Hollywood actors are in the running to play James Bond as well. Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba have all reportedly shown interest in the role. Daniel Craig has also said that he would like to continue playing his role in the franchise even though many believe that ‘Bond 25’ might be his last film.
Then again, several reports indicate that Aiden Turner might have already clinched the role. Back in January, Aidan mysteriously dodged James Bond questions from the media during Britain’s National Television Awards. Many eyewitnesses said that he refused to confirm or deny the James Bond buzz even though he had a huge smile on his face. So far, he hasn’t made any public comments about the speculation.
Of course, James Bond fans will just have to wait and see who will play 007 on the big screen next. Will it be Michael Fassbender? Or perhaps Aiden Turner? Many fans are hoping that actor Idris Elba will be announced as the next James Bond.
