A notorious arms dealer was finally spotted on tonight’s episode of “the Brave” however Deputy Director Campbell decided on a controversial choice to handle him.

Rainer Booth had a file opened on him with probably every intelligence agency in the world. But the Deputy Director didn’t think they should capture or kill him. She said that the game would remain the same even if they pulled him off the board and so she wanted the chance to bug him. Campbell said that finding out everything he knows without alerting would give them more information than anything and it would be actually useful. So Campbell was allowed to run an operation and she enlisted Captain Dalton’s team to help.

Dalton and his people were given the direction to fly to Mexico because Booth was expected there to make a transaction. But the team had to work with an agent already on the ground. Agent Hugo Vargas has been on Booth’s case and he managed to find valuable intel because his source was Booth’s mistress, Sophia. Sophia had unfortunately found herself in situation she couldn’t get out of and so she had turned to Vargas to help her yet he made a mistake with her. He had promised Sophia that he could protect and that was one thing he should never tell a source.

One of the intelligence agents back in Washington had had some experience with being in Vargas’s place and she had let her own situation color how she saw things in Mexico. But Noah Morgenthau had still been worried about Hannah. He had gone to the Deputy Director because he thought Hannah’s past as a field agent might be hard on her as well as affect the case. So Noah was kindly told to back off on this one. The Deputy Director had purposely chosen to hire Hannah in order to get a field agent’s perspective and so she believed Hannah would remain an asset.

But all the same, Noah continued to monitor the situation and the team down in Mexico created a plan. Captain Dalton approved a plan in which they use a bomb as a distraction while Amir gets close enough to Booth to plant a tracker. So they got everything ready in preparation. They created a bomb and had placed in prime position, but Booth later proved to be a wild card. He had spent several unplanned minutes outside just talking on the phone and had gone on to crack his phone in half once he was done with it.

So Booth constantly thought of security. Intelligence later found out that he never wore the same pair of shoes twice and that constantly changed his phone despite spending thousands of dollars on it. Which means that everything that could be bugged was destroyed because Booth never put himself at risk. But Intelligence had wanted to speak to Sophia directly. They had gotten information from Vargas that pointed to Sophia being at the hairdresser’s and so they sent in Jaz to talk to her.

Jaz could easily fit in and she knew how to remain in character. But Sophia wasn’t a trained agent. She had gotten frightened when she had seen Jaz and hadn’t wanted to talk though she ultimately did her best to try and tell Jaz as much as she could. She was trying to help them figure out how to bug Booth and she was thinking it over when Booth decided to surprise them all. He had changed cars (which is how Washington didn’t spot in the area before it was too late) and had gone to the hairdresser’s to pick up Sophia. So that sent everyone into a panic.

Agent Vargas thought Sophia had been compromised and had wanted to get her out of there before Booth went in. But Captain Dalton had restrained Vargas. He knew that the best thing for everyone would be to remain calm and so the only thing he did was send out Amir so that Amir could be close by. So Booth went into the salon and picked up Sophia however Sophia had given Jaz her phone and so that allowed the team to follow her and thereby Booth’s movements. And so all they had to do was get the phone back to Sophia only Booth had seen Amir.

Amir had been at the casino when he was at the casino and he had been at the salon when Booth picked up Sophia. So that put Booth on edge. He suspected someone was following him and had been extra careful. Booth had gone ahead with an arms deal with the cartel and so the team had figured out how they could get Sophia’s back to her. They had decided to stage a robbery and had cut off Booth’s car from his security team. But the robbery had been so precise and clean that it sent up alarm bells.

They had gotten Sophia back her phone and had been listening on Booth’s conversations, but he began to suspect her after the robbery. He and his second-in-charge thought she had planned everything and so they were going to kill her. But Nathan and Hannah had overheard the plan so they tried to get into contact with the Deputy Director. They knew that they had to do something except they disagreed about what to do. Nathan didn’t want to pull Sophia out there because that would jeopardize the mission meanwhile Hannah didn’t care and just wanted to pull Sophia out.

Hannah had acted like Nathan suspected she would. She wanted to ignore the mission and simply save Hannah’s life because it reminded her so much of her own case. But Nathan knew they had to make a decision for the greater good. So he did get in touch with the Deputy Director and he told her about Hannah. And therefore she took over talking to her rogue analysts while Nathan monitored the team on the ground. Captain Dalton also knew they couldn’t pull Sophia out of there and so he came up with the idea of painting someone else as the thief.

Captain Dalton had his team frame the cartel and that led to Booth killing the wrong/right person over Sophia. But Vargas did tell Dalton that he was going to inform Sophia about what Booth would have done and Dalton had offered his best wishes because he knew that Vargas was in love with her. So while Dalton’s team took down the head of a cartel, they protected the mission and now Washington has inside information on Booth!

THE END!
