NBC has officially announced “This Is Us” has been renewed for two more seasons. Each season will have 18 episodes. The breakout hit dramedy of the season follows the Pearson family and is the highest rated show on Tuesday nights. Created by Dan Fogelman, “This Is Us” stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones.
The Young and the Restless fans were devastated when fan-favorite Justin Hartley was forced to leave his Adam Newman role. Justin was really classy about the manner in which he left Y&R, thanking fans for their loyalty and having nothing but nice things to say about the show and all the people involved. Unfortunately, his character, Adam Newman, is sorely missed by fans and with the This Is Us’s two season renewal news we know Justin will not be able to return to Y&R.
Not only is the show a fan favorite and a ratings hit but has also gained attention from the critics with three Golden Globe nominations including best drama. The show, which premiered September 20, 2016, has a devoted following but has not been without controversy. Several stories have been written about Chrissy Metz and her weight.
While originally touted for having a plus sized actress in a starring role, rumors of contract mandated weight-loss have hounded the actress. Her on screen character has made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery but it is unknown if the actress will have the surgery in really life.
Described by fans as the best new show on television, “This Is Us” tells the story of the Pearson family both in really time and in flashback sequences of what lead the family to where they are today. Thoughtful and emotional, the show explores the sadness, grief, anger and disappointment common in everyday life.
Dad Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia, shares a birthday with his three children Randell (Sterling K. Brown), Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Kate (Chrissy Metz). Jack, often described as strong and dreamy, will face an early demise and his death will no doubt help the audience better understand what makes the Pearson clan tick.
Next week’s This is Us Season 1 Episode 13, Three Sentences, airing January 24th 9/8c on NBC, highlights Rebecca and Jack’s attempt to throw three separate birthday parties for their kids. In the future, Randall struggles to make time for William; Kevin makes a big decision; and Kate’s gastric-bypass journey takes an unexpected turn.
