The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Will Y&R Shakeup Bring Adam Newman Back to Genoa City - Eric Braeden Preaches Patience

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that all Y&R fan’s patience will be rewarded with coming changes. Might one of them be the return of Adam Newman (as most recently played by Justin Hartley) in the form of another actor who previously played him?

Behind the scenes shakeup’s have seen executive producer and head writer Mal Young exit the show. Tony Morina has advanced to executive producer and former head writer, Josh Griffith, has returned as the show’s lead scribe. Both job-fills will bring adjustments to storylines and likely, the cast in the near future.

As soap operas record on advanced schedules, there are approximately six-weeks of episodes in the can. That term comes from the days of actual film, when metal can-type covers secured celluloid in day’s old Hollywoodland.

Eric Braeden (Victor) advised via social media that the fans should be patient and that changes would be coming. Might one of them be the return of a character fans have long been calling for, Adam Newman?

Until, or unless This Is Us ends its run, it’s hard to imagine Hartley having time to return to Y&R, except in a cameo role, if he and TPTB would be open to something like that. But what would such a mini reprised role serve?

If Morina opts to resurrect Adam, it might be best to recast the role that was made famous by the man Hartley replaced, Michael Muhney. With that choice could come the rehash, or revival of conflict from some quarters, along with tremendous enthusiasm for this particular thespian.

Daytime fans and entertainment connoisseurs know that Muhney was unceremoniously thrust from the cast five years ago this month by then executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps. A private detective the actor hired later supposedly debunked conjecture that involved his on-set behavior, as apparently initiated by a non-source. Nevertheless, it has been years now that Muhney has not seen an offer from any of the 4 daytime soaps.

Muhney acknowledged that he’d been too brash with some of his colleagues, was fully respectful of Phelps’ decision in his regard, and later returned to interview for his old job in the summer of 2014. Y&R’s action confirmed that he was eligible for rehire, further underscoring that nothing must have crossed any permanent lines leading into 2013.

All of the above means that Muhney could be hired back if Morina and Y&R’s other decision-makers choose to do so. Clearly that move would send many soap fans into a positive tizzy and result in heavy attention occurring upon his return as Adam. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
