Hallmark Channel news has some great information to pass on about a new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie that’s premiering on Sunday, December 8 at 9pm Eastern. It’s called “Time For You To Come Home For Christmas” and stars Alison Sweeney, whom Days of Our Lives fans will recognize from her long-term role as Sami Brady on the NBC soap.
“Time For You To Come Home For Christmas” is about a woman named Katherine (played by Alison Sweeney) who comes home for the holidays after her husband has passed away. She ends up meeting a veteran who happens to be on his own holiday journey. Together, they learn about a bond that could be the miracle they both need.
Alison is joined in the movie by Lucas Bryant, whom you might recognize from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the SyFy Channel’s Haven, and Private Eyes. The movie is produced by country music star Blake Shelton and his mother, Dorothy Shackleford, and is based on the book “Time For Me To Come Home For Christmas” by Dorothy Shackleford and Travis Thrasher.
Alison was recently interviewed on Hallmark’s Home & Family about the movie and its message. “Well, [there’s] this beautiful idea of honoring people who are grieving and have other feelings at Christmas,” she said. “We always talk about the joy and the celebration and the fun, but other people come into the holidays with mixed feelings or loss or tragedy.”
Alison continued: “And this story that she came up with is so beautiful with that…my character is grieving, and the son is grieving, it’s been several years and it’s time to let Christmas pull them back into the present.”
In the behind-the-scenes feature for the movie, Lucas Bryant spoke about his character, Jack, as well. “Part of Jack’s reason for coming to this town is he’s now with the USO and he’s playing in the band at this charity event that is helping families of vets. I think what makes it a love story is that these two people each have something they’re working on for themselves. And they happen to meet at exactly the right moment.”
And Alison chimed in: “The story at Christmas is about taking chances, giving yourself a chance, and maybe dreams do come true – all these things are such special parts of Christmas.”
Fans of Blake Shelton will also get a treat in the movie, as Blake wrote a special song for the film that is performed by Lucas Bryant. It certainly sounds like it will be a great all-around Christmas movie with a little something for everyone!
