The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is clearly struggling to get a grip on his life. He recently hooked up with Rebekah Barlow (Jennifer Taylor), who opted to have sex and run. Nick was left frustrated as he cracked open a beer and ultimately switched off a romantic flick. He’s just not satisfied with his love life, so something has to change eventually.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) thinks Nick should try a dating app, which seems beneath a Newman to be honest. However, he’s clearly getting desperate. On Wednesday, April 10, Nick ended up picking up a random woman for another meaningless hookup. He might be having fun in the moment, but he undoubtedly feels even emptier when these women walk out the door.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nick will remain miserable until he takes control again. He’ll have to find another romantic path and hopefully some happiness. Since Michelle Stafford is returning as Phyllis Summers (currently played by Gina Tognoni), that’ll be an obvious option down the road.
Many Y&R fans liked the chemistry between Stafford’s Phyllis and Nick, so Y&R could be gearing up for their reunion. Of course, that’s not happening just yet. Stafford is still filming as Nina Reeves over on General Hospital. Tognoni is still wrapping up her time on The Young and the Restless as well, so Nick may need another love interest to keep him busy for a while.
It’d be natural for Nick to want Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) back and make his move. Nick’s relationship with Phyllis was a rebound anyway, and it’s clear that Nick has a special place in his heart for Sharon. “Shick” has a bond that can never truly be broken. No one be surprised if depressed Nick made a desperate effort to reunite with Sharon, despite her new romance with Rey.
Sharon might reject Nick, but he could still give it a shot. There’s a good chance Sharon’s left a void that Nick’s trying to fill right now. A failed “Shick” reunion might build up to giving “Phick” another go once Stafford’s Phyllis returns.
Whatever the case, Nick needs to get a grip and figure something out. He’s spinning his wheels, so he needs a firm direction for the future. We’ll give you updates as other Y&R news comes in.
