The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Rey's Redemption Jeopardizes Shick Reunion - Who Should Sharon Choose?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) choice to help Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Billy (Jason Thompson) with the Coverup Trio’s rescue plan allows an opportunity to redeem himself in Sharon’s (Sharon Case) eyes. How that development plays into a potential Shick reunion also factors into the building Genoa City storyline.

As of now, Rey believes he’s going to have a child with Mia (Noemi Gonzalez). But Y&R’s fans were recently shown an invented flashback scene that radically impacts the lives of numerous characters.

Viewers saw Arturo (Jason Canela) leave Ria’s modest apartment in the recent past. The creation of that setting was intended, in part, to create regular points of contact between Rey, Sharon, and Mia. The implication was that Rey and Mia wouldn’t last and that Shey would eventually form.

The recent rewrite intentionally alters history, allowing Arturo to have changed his mind and returned to be with Mia romantically. That impacts Mia’s false pregnancy claim, where Rey is the father of her non-existent child.

Arturo tells Abby (Melissa Ordway) that he spent tawdry time with Mia, which immediately puts Abturo’s future in peril. At the same time fans realize Abby’s knowledge will surely be shared with various other characters, with Rey being one of those affected alter egos.

Following on Rey’s demand that Mia take a pregnancy test, which she faked, he’ll ask for a DNA test, assuming Arturo doesn’t beat him to the request. Both brothers don’t want to be linked to Mia. While it seems as though Arturo will be, Y&R’s new writing team could opt to also rewrite Rey as the father.

Meanwhile, Sharon’s existing feelings for Rey and her gratitude toward him, for helping her escape the prison sentence and coordinated rescue from the Abbott cabin, allows Shey a real chance at love. The chemistry between both characters is real and offers many storyline variations moving forward. Choosing not to at least explore those options would seem foolish.

But Nick can’t be ruled out of this emotional storyline just yet, as he’s a free agent due to Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) revert to character form. His recent desire to protect Sharon reminds fans of Shick days gone by, while also prodding hardcore viewers who’ve wanted this couple to reunite.

For whatever reasons and through many leadership teams, Y&R has not allowed Shick to remarry. As of early 2019, Rey seems to stand in their way. Nick and he are rivals, which means that Morrow’s iconic character can’t be discounted by Sharon.
