General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will find herself keeping a deadly secret – at least she’ll assume it’s deadly! Carly looked horrified as Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) hand slipped away from her own. It seems Carly will be left thinking Nelle couldn’t have possibly survived that cliff fall.
Of course, Carly should know by now not to underestimate Nelle. GH fans could tell her that Nelle’s always got another trick up her sleeve. There’s no way that after all the stunts Nelle’s pulled, THIS is how she goes out.
Just – poof – gone over the cliff edge? Not a chance. We’re talking about the woman who lies, schemes and manipulates her way out of every corner she lands in.
Sooner or later, Nelle always comes back – and she always fights back, too. In fact, this outcome worked out beautifully for Nelle as long as she survived. If everyone thinks Nelle’s dead, they won’t be looking for her.
Nelle didn’t get her son back, but she can keep her freedom. That’s a nice consolation prize under the circumstances – and it gives Nelle time to plot her next vengeful move.
Nelle’s proven that she’s obsessed with getting revenge on Carly. There’s no word on how long Nelle will stay away, so we could be looking at weeks or even months. Nelle might have to recover from her fall – perhaps with the help of some mountain man or sweet outdoorsy lady who doesn’t know Nelle like we do.
Regardless, Nelle’s anger toward Carly is only going to grow in the meantime. Once Nelle’s all healed up, she can return to stir up more trouble.
Naturally, Nelle would still be wanted for Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) kidnapping and Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Briana Lane) throat slashing, but Nelle may manage to get off the hook somehow.
General Hospital writers knew what they were doing when Carly failed to pull Nelle up. It brings the possibility that Nelle will come back and accuse Carly of attempted murder.
Nelle could easily claim that Carly let her hand go intentionally. Maybe Nelle could even embellish the story by insisting Carly pushed her right off the cliff!
It’s Nelle’s word against Carly’s, but there are a couple things that’d be working in Nelle’s favor. For starters, most people don’t just randomly fall off cliffs.
It was a fluke that Nelle happened to slip and couldn’t hang on, but most people wouldn’t have a hard time buying that Carly shoved her. That’s especially when you take Nelle and Carly’s contentious history into account.
Plus – and this is important – Carly’s going to lie about this cliff incident with Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher). They’ll spin a cover-up story, so that could look like an indication of guilt. Nelle may push the cops to believe that if Carly was innocent, she wouldn’t be making up a new story to hide the “real” one.
In other words, Nelle may make a solid case for why Carly plotted to kill her – even though it’s not true. Do you think this will be part of Nelle’s revenge strategy? We’ll offer updates as other GH news rolls in.
