The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that since Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester) is pregnant in real life, it’s time to start thinking about the next step. Wood will eventually have to go on maternity leave, so that’ll require her temporary exit from the show.
What will Wood’s maternity leave mean for Steffy – especially since she’s just kicking off this romantic story with John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan)?
B&B has several options to consider, so let’s run down the list. The first one is obvious and would probably disappoint fans the most. The Bold and the Beautiful could have Steffy succumb to her addiction once again. A relapse might land Steffy back in rehab – for a longer stint to make sure it sticks this time.
Of course, B&B probably won’t take that route if they write in Wood’s pregnancy. They surely won’t want Steffy on drugs again if she ends up with a “Sinn” bun in the oven. If Steffy indeed gets pregnant by Finn, what will the show do then?
It’s possible Steffy could just be busy off screen for the most part – perhaps with the occasional video chat to someone along the way. The Bold and the Beautiful could always focus on another group of characters for a while and put Steffy on the backburner along with Finn.
That would certainly work, but B&B would also lose all the wonderful momentum they’re building with Steffy and Finn’s romance. Wood’s time off will be necessary and beyond B&B’s control, but it’d still be a bummer to lose “Sinn.”
Is there a way to keep Finn and Steffy’s relationship moving forward, even while Wood is out of the picture? There might be if The Bold and the Beautiful is willing to go for a temporary recast.
A similar situation has been working out well over on General Hospital, where Briana Lane stepped in for Amanda Setton as Brook Lynn Quartemaine. Setton is expecting a baby, but her role’s waiting to be reclaimed when the time comes. Until then, Lane is doing a great job filling in for Setton – and Brook Lynn’s GH storyline is still going strong.
As luck would have it, B&B wouldn’t even have to search far for a temporary Steffy replacement. All they’d have to do is turn to Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlyn Ramirez from 2004-2005).
Not only is Ewell a Bold and the Beautiful alum, she’s already been serving as a stand-in for Wood’s Steffy in kissing scenes with Finn.
That’s because Ewell is Tanner Novlan’s wife, which means no restrictions on all the steamy scenes fans want to see! It seems like a no-brainer to ask Ewell to step in while Wood’s on maternity leave.
Ewell could just go from a kissing double to a temporary Steffy recast. We’re talking about a professional actress here who’s been on B&B before, so why not?
Naturally, Wood would slide right back in the role of Steffy once she returned from maternity leave. If Ewell is on board, it’d just be an easy solution until Wood could get back in the studio.
