Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Dan Feuerriegel is set to make his debut as the new EJ DiMera this summer. If you’re not familiar with the character, we’re here to help! Here’s everything you need to know about EJ DiMera before he returns to Salem.
James Scott was incredibly popular in the role of EJ, who’s the son of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) and Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk). However, Scott left Days back in 2014 – and that led to EJ suffering a seemingly fatal gunshot wound following a faceoff with Clyde Weston (James Read) and his goons.
Soon after, Kristen DiMera (now played by Stacy Haiduk) slipped in the morgue to give her brother a dose of Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (William Utay) back-from-the-dead serum.
Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) was left in the dark, so she went off to chase after some Hollywood dreams before figuring out EJ was actually alive.
That led to Sami globetrotting all over the place trying to find her husband. EJ finally turned up at that Nashville warehouse, but he was badly burned in the explosion that happened there and has been fighting to recover ever since.
Between the initial back-from-the-dead recovery and the fire recovery, it’s indeed been a long, hard road.
Now EJ’s finally better and almost ready to make his big comeback! As far as EJ’s personality goes, he’s a lot like Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). EJ’s charming, sophisticated and ruthless when he needs to be.
EJ DiMera’s got more of an edge than Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), but he’s not quite as crazy as Kristen. EJ finds the right middle ground and will be a great DiMera to have in town again.
Similarly, EJ and Sami’s relationship wasn’t too far off from Stefan and Gabi Hernandez DiMera’s (Camila Banus) feisty romance. Sami and EJ did some horrible things to each other, but there was always powerful passion under the surface that kept bringing them back together.
EJ adored his dear “Samantha” despite his screwups and all the scheming she did against him.
Of course, EJ will be a different man in more ways than one when he returns. Not only will EJ be played by a new actor, he’ll apparently have emotional walls up.
EJ has had trouble reconnecting with Sami during their time off screen, but perhaps that’s related to the trauma of everything he’s been through.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Sami’s going to make more trouble by cheating with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) before EJ comes back! This may be DOOL’s way of breaking up EJ and Sami so that EJ can stick around after Alison Sweeney’s run ends.
Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) is EJ’s ex, so she might be a romantic option for him moving forward. We should also note that EJ once had a steamy fling with Abigail DiMera (now played by Marci Miller).
Abigail wasn’t with Chad at the time, but it’ll no doubt remain an issue between these brothers moving forward. EJ will definitely shake things up and bring some DiMera family drama.
