Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Monday, July 5 Recap – Ben Traps Ciara, Locks Wife in Apartment – Greedy Paulina Defends Dirty Trick

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, July 5, reveals that Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) trapped Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) by locking his wife in his apartment – all while greedy Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) defended her dirty trick!

In the town square on Monday’s Days episode, a construction worker insisted there would be no marketplace.

He explained that Price Town would be a big-box store – and Chanel Dupree (Precious Way) confirmed that she’d seen the blueprint before Paulina explained it away with a lie.

Abe Carver (James Reynolds) was upset since he trusted Paulina and thought they were more than business associates. Paulina piped up that they were, but Abe replied that they weren’t anymore.

Abe argued that Paulina couldn’t tear down a historic site, but Paulina pointed out that her permit said she could.

Abe wanted an explanation since Paulina felt the need to lie, so Paulina said she pitched a feel-good project to get people on board with the idea of change.

Paulina insisted Price Town would make money right away and that everyone would win, but Abe countered that the small business owners and people of color who were counting on this marketplace wouldn’t.

Paulina kept trying to sell Price Town as a way to create more jobs and make more money, but Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) ranted about Paulina’s steady flow of income being all that mattered to her.

Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) was livid as well and informed Paulina that they’d be giving back the money she’d given for the twins’ college education. She wished Paulina had never come to Salem at all!

In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, she got a romantic surprise when John Black (Drake Hogestyn) showed up with food and wanted to spend Independence Day together.

They discussed Paulina and how she was dating Abe now before talk turned to Ben.

Marlena pointed out that she had a session with Ben tomorrow. She thought the worst part of Ben’s situation was that Ciara not only didn’t remember him – Ciara hated Ben and constantly reminded him of his past.

When John asked if Marlena thought Ciara would ever come around, Marlena admitted she sure hoped so.

At Ben’s place on Monday’s DOOL episode, he refused to accept that Ciara was engaged and asked where her ring was if that was true.

Ciara confessed she didn’t want Ben freaking out, so she had taken it off. She pulled the engagement ring out of her bag and put it on to help Ben accept reality.

It didn’t work since Ben still planned to put up the fight of his life when it came to his own marriage to Ciara. Although Ciara didn’t want to remember Ben, he was determined to jog her memory and had no intention of surrendering on the divorce.

After Ben tore the papers up, Ciara said that was “real mature” and insisted she’d just get more.

Ciara vowed to go to court if she had to, but Ben thought that was great since she’d have to come back to Salem. He wanted Ciara to remember what it was like to make love and lie in bed together for hours.

Ben also wanted Ciara to remember how they were going to “make the most beautiful babies this town has ever seen.” Ciara didn’t care about any of that and thought it was cruel of Ben to make this so difficult for her.

Since Ben was giving her no choice, Ciara declared that they were indeed going to court.

At Julie’s Place, Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) told Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) about his engagement to Ciara.

They seemed concerned about Ciara getting her memory back and reuniting with Ben, which offended Theo. He wondered what made Doug and Julie so sure that Ciara would go back to Ben, even if her memories returned.

Lani and Eli interrupted moments later on Monday’s Days episode, so that led to a discussion about Paulina’s betrayal.

Julie was distraught over the idea of the Horton Town Square being torn down, but Eli and the others offered reassurance about Abe making things right.

Afterward, Theo shared a private moment with Lani and filled her in on his engagement to Ciara.

Lani cried out with glee and pulled Theo into a warm hug. She insisted that was wonderful, so Theo was glad someone thought so.

Theo admitted he wanted to go with Ciara, but she felt that would make things worse and opted to confront Ben alone instead.

Once Theo explained that Ben was with Ciara trying to get him to sign the divorce papers, he pointed out that everyone said Ben was a decent guy now. Theo was trying to trust that everyone would be OK.

Back at Ben’s place, Ben started asking Ciara about fortune cookies and lo mein.

Ben pulled out the Alice in Wonderland book along with some wedding pictures, so Ciara asked if this was Ben’s “freaky little shrine” of their love. Ben insisted this was their life together, but Ciara decided it was time for her to go.

Ben locked the door instead, so Ciara asked what he was doing. Although Ben was sorry to do this, he argued that he couldn’t let Ciara go.

Over with Abe again, he pushed the construction crew to “get the hell out” of there until they could get this town square drama straightened out.

Abe assumed Paulina would fight him if he tried to cancel her latest version of the project, but he cut her off when she tried to explain and left to call city hall.

As for Chanel, she pointed out that Paulina knew the bakery would never open. Chanel wondered if it was a lie when Paulina said she believed in her.

Paulina argued that Chanel could get a job at Price Town, but Chanel wanted her own business.

When Paulina scoffed about this two-week dream of Chanel’s, her daughter countered that she used to pretend she had a bakery when she was little.

Chanel wanted to make Paulina proud with Sweet Bits, but Paulina lied and turned this into a big joke. Chanel wondered what kind of mother does that to her child!

Paulina reminded Chanel that she forgave her for trying to blackmail her out of money during her brief marriage to Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer). She wanted forgiveness as well, but Chanel wasn’t having it.

Chanel declared that Paulina was nothing but a liar and a cheat who didn’t care about who she hurt – not as long as Paulina got what she wanted.

After Chanel stomped off, Abe reappeared and suggested apologizing to Chanel, her family as well as him.

Based on what Paulina had said so far, Abe didn’t think she was sorry at all. He added that Paulina had to see this exposure coming and demanded to know what she was thinking.
