General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some fun updates to pass along about Maurice Benard, who portrays Sonny Corinthos on the ABC soap. As you might be aware if you’re fortunate enough to follow Maurice on social media, he’s been sporting a new look lately.
Maurice has started to go naturally grey, and he’s wearing a beard.
Although Maurice has been pretty mum about the reason for his newfound beard, it seems to have everything to do with what’s going to transpire soon on GH. As GH viewers will remember, at the end of last week, Sonny was shown face down in the snow, having survived the bridge collapse.
Well, GH buzz is that Sonny will be lost and confused, likely suffering from amnesia and not knowing who he is and where he belongs. It would make sense that in this condition, Sonny would get a bit unkempt and grow a beard in the process.
At any rate, a while back, Maurice polled his fans on social media wondering whether they liked his new bearded look. People responded in droves, with some not liking the look, but others raving about his new salt & pepper bearded persona.
Well, now it seems that Maurice has at least informally tallied the results and has a winner.
Maurice recently posted a photo of himself sporting his beard and new silver locks, with the following caption: “BEARD/NO BEARD. Beard wins by a landslide. So that pretty much says to me I look pretty bad without a beard.” Of course, Maurice is joking here, and fans have already started to weigh in with their thoughts.
“You look great either way!!!” one person commented. And someone else echoed that sentiment, saying: “You look handsome either way.” Finally, another fan commented: “Maurice, you look great either way just don’t hide the dimples.”
We should note that since Maurice apparently still has the beard, it looks like the storyline involving Sonny having the beard is still going strong. As you might know, GH is set to start filming again on January 22, so it seems that Maurice is maintaining the beard for future filming.
