The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) lung cancer fake-out may finally be revealed and cause Victoria Newman-Locke’s (Amelia Heinle) marriage to crumble over the lie. Y&R fans know Ashland definitely had some honesty issues when he first got together with Victoria.
For starters, Ashland isn’t even the real Ashland! He was born Bobby DeFranco before he stole his dead friend’s identity and built a new life for himself.
Of course, Ashland also worked with Jesse Gaines’ (Jamison Jones) father to steal Camilla Rhodes’ fortune through a forged letter. His entire empire was built on that theft, so that was a huge deal.
However, Ashland supposedly came clean about everything before his wedding to Victoria and hoped she could forgive all the deception. In the end, Victoria was indeed able to move past the lies and focus on the deep love she shares with Ashland.
Since then, Ashland has claimed to be all about honesty and refuses to keep secrets from Victoria. He’s been acting like a changed man and has been getting positive results from his experimental treatment.
Sadly, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Ashland still hasn’t told Victoria the whole truth. There’s another secret that Ashland kept hidden, even back before he married Victoria.
Ashland had his chance to put everything on the table in Tuscany and move forward with a clean slate, so why did he keep something buried?
Ashland may have still been scheming at that point – or maybe it was just so horrible that Ashland feared Victoria might never forgive it.
That’s no doubt Ashland’s fear to this day since he’s still keeping some massive secret under wraps.
Since the show seems keen on keeping Ashland around, the most logical explanation is that Ashland was never deathly ill. Even if Ashland is sick, that doesn’t mean he was ever dying.
Ashland might’ve exaggerated his diagnosis to manipulate Victoria – perhaps with the intention of stealing Newman Enterprises out from under her early on.
Maybe Ashland actually has a far milder and treatable condition instead of something as serious as small-cell lung carcinoma.
Over time, Ashland likely fell in love for real and is just trying to dig himself out of the hole he dug.
That’s probably why Ashland’s treatment is suddenly working like a charm and giving him this miraculous life extension.
Regardless, Y&R spoilers for 2022 indicate that Ashland is keeping a secret he should’ve told Victoria by now.
There’s another lie from before the wedding that’s just waiting to be exposed – and once that happens, Ashland and Victoria’s blissful marriage could fall apart!
