The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, September 17 Recap – Mariah’s Goodbye to Bowie, Moves Out - Wants to Be Mom

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, September 17, reveals that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will say goodbye to “Bowie” and move out after confessing she wants to be his mom. Here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to on Friday’s dramatic show.

At the ranch, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will tease Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) for going overboard on baptism gifts and buying “the whole damn store.”

Nikki will have a flashback of just after Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was born and will ask Victor to pick up some cupcakes she ordered for the occasion.

Victor will hate that Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) is missing so much, but Nikki will choose to stay positive since Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor still has such a big support system.

At Crimson Lights, Mariah will assure Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) that she’s excited for the baptism and happy to be part of that support system for the baby.

Mariah will suggest she’s going to keep calling him “Bowie” as a special nickname and will act like she’s embracing her role as a godmother.

When Tessa seems relieved about Mariah’s attitude shift, Mariah will wonder if Tessa was worried she wouldn’t be able to handle today.

Mariah will get why Tessa would be concerned since she’s been struggling with so many emotions, but she’ll assure Tessa that she’s doing much better.

Tessa will encourage Mariah to keep opening up and will think she’s going to be the coolest godmother ever.

While Tessa’s grabbing a coffee refill for the road, Mariah will look uneasy as she sits alone.

At the Chancellor mansion, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will be a bit overwhelmed as she tries to make sure all the plans are in place.

Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) will reassure Abby since they’ll want her to enjoy this milestone.

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will also stop by with a gift and some heartfelt words. It’ll finally be sinking in for Abby that she’s baptizing her baby boy today, so Jack will be thrilled for her and will see that she’s already a great mother.

While Ashley’s on her way to the chapel to make sure it’s ready, she’ll bump into Victor in the park.

Victor will admit his frustration over Chance still being away since he has other obligations now. He’ll suggest to Ashley that they should put their heads together and see if they can do something about it.

After making love at the penthouse, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will fill Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) in on her trip with Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) and Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey).

It went well until Naya got a call from her doctor, who had test results to deliver.

Amanda will offer updates on Naya having atrial fibrillation and will be especially worried since things are so stressful with Sutton Ames’ (Jack Landron) trial coming up. She’ll talk about wanting to make sure Naya has the best doctors and best possible care.

As for Devon, he’ll pat himself on the back for his baby whisperer skills and will invite Amanda to the baptism today – though he’ll understand if she’s not up for it. Amanda will know how important this is for Devon as Dominic’s godfather and will be glad to attend such a positive event.

Back with Jack and Abby, they’ll discuss their concerns regarding Mariah and her leave of absence extension. Abby will know Mariah’s a survivor, but she’ll feel like she’s just not there yet in terms of healing.

Since Abby found a strong nanny candidate and hired her on the spot, she’ll hope that’ll give Mariah some relief since Dominic will be in good hands.

Once the baptism gets underway at the chapel, the minister will lead Abby, Devon and Mariah through what’s expected of them as they carry out their sacred duties. He’ll baptize Dominic as Mariah struggles over the sight of Abby with her son.

At the reception afterward, Mariah will continue to have a hard time as everyone tells family stories. Abby will be so grateful to Mariah for stepping up as godmother, but it’ll be clear Mariah’s upset despite the brave face she puts on.

When Mariah accidentally breaks a glass, the noise will wake up Dominic and leave him crying. Mariah will rush out of the house with Tessa not far behind.

Once they’re in the park, Mariah will talk about how Abby’s efforts to include her only made things worse.

Mariah won’t know how to be around the baby without her heart shattering into a million pieces and won’t think she can do this.

Afterward, Mariah will return to the reception guests and apologize if she wrecked the celebration, but she’ll get plenty of reassurance from Ashley, Jack, Nina and the others.

Mariah will head upstairs, so Abby will worry about her along with Chance – though she’ll be grateful and full of love for her baby and all the support she still has.

Once the rest of the guests leave, Abby and Devon will fret over Mariah before she comes back downstairs with Tessa and their suitcases.

Mariah will announce that they’re moving out, but she’ll promise to keep pumping and storing milk so that it’s available for Dominic when he needs it. She’ll get that this is a shock, but she just won’t be able to stay there any longer.

Abby will assure Mariah that she’s not upset about the party and that nothing has changed, but Mariah will insist things have indeed changed for her – including Mariah herself. Mariah will know Abby wants to help, but she won’t think there’s anything she can do.

Although Mariah thought she could be part of the Chancellor baby crew, she just won’t be able to pretend this isn’t killing her.

“It physically hurts because as crazy as this sounds, all I want to do is be his mother,” Mariah will admit as tears stream down her face. She’ll reiterate that’s why she can’t stay there anymore.

As for Victor, he’ll complain about Chance’s absence to Nikki and worry about Mariah’s presence in the Chancellor household. Victor will think Mariah is emotionally unstable, so he won’t think they can predict what’ll happen.

Nikki will think that Abby’s strong and will suggest it’ll be healing if she can muster up a little more strength to help Mariah.

At the Abbott house, Ashley will worry about the toll this Mariah situation will take on Abby. Jack will feel like Mariah is part of the family now and will think she needs all the support she can get.

Back at the Chancellor mansion, Abby will understand everything Mariah’s said and will be so sorry for what she’s going through. Mariah will request a moment to hold the baby and bid him farewell.

Mariah will take “Bowie” in her arms and talk about how she has to say goodbye – though she’ll note that they’ll always be connected.

Mariah will know there’ll be a time when she can pull herself together and watch her godson grow up, but she’ll have to keep her distance for now so she can get to that place.

Abby, Devon and Tessa will all look heartbroken for Mariah as she tells “Bowie” how much she loves him.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah’s struggles are far from over, so stay tuned.
