The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) could become a new psychiatric facility patient and get locked up after stealing Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor. Will Mariah lose it over the trauma she’s been through as well as this baby separation?
Mariah clearly isn’t coping well on her own at this point, so she could really use some professional help.
Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will talk to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case), who can no doubt recommend some therapists who specialize in this area – that is if Mariah will agree to talk to one of them.
Sometimes Y&R characters can be stubborn in storylines like this, so Mariah may balk at opening up to a stranger. She’ll be willing to lean on Tessa and Sharon, but that may not be enough.
That’s especially true if Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) puts her foot down and urges Mariah to back off when it comes to her son.
If Abby cuts off contact between Mariah and Dominic for a while, that could be the start of a true downward spiral.
Mariah could easily lose her grip on reality and perhaps even kidnap the baby. Anything could happen if Mariah’s no longer in her right mind.
Mariah has been terrified that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) might come back to wreak more havoc. She’s been having nightmares and has repeatedly mentioned her concerns about keeping Dominic safe.
Mariah just won’t feel at ease in the September 6 episode despite Abby’s reassurance about beefed up security.
Mariah will try to trust that she’ll be protected along with Dominic, but there’ll be a persistent scared feeling in the pit of Mariah’s stomach.
If this keeps up, it’s possible that Mariah will somehow think she’s doing the right thing by snatching Dominic.
If Mariah comes unhinged and thinks Abby isn’t doing what she should to protect “Bowie,” she may go back to captivity mode and decide she’ll do it herself.
Mariah woke up screaming about “my” baby at one point, so she might even get confused and make herself believe Dominic is truly hers.
Abby and everyone else tied to the baby saga might assume Mariah was correct about Stitch causing more chaos – only to learn it was Mariah herself who stole Dominic and made a run for it.
Regardless, the September 6 episode also brings Abby’s declaration about no one taking Dominic from her ever again, but that’s wishful thinking on a soap.
Abby’s certainty is a red flag that points to yet another kidnapping – this time most likely at Mariah’s hands.
Once Mariah and Dominic are ultimately found, Mariah’s going to need that professional help we mentioned!
There’ll just be no way around it if Mariah takes things that far as expected.
