General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) could easily develop a twisted obsession with a man who’s been nothing but sweet and compassionate. Dr. Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) doesn’t judge Esme for her past – at least when it comes to being Ace Cassadine’s (Jay and Joey Clay) mother.
In fact, Austin has gone out of his way to repeatedly praise Esme as a good mom.
During Ace’s GH exam following all the Greenland drama, Austin also kicked everyone out except for Esme and her son.
It’s clear that Austin isn’t going to let Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) or anyone else intimidate Esme out of her role as Ace’s mother.
Austin has heard all the horrible news regarding Esme just like everyone else, but he’s capable of being professional.
The doc isn’t letting Esme’s history cloud his judgment and definitely supports her as a parent.
Esme has been surprised by that support along the way and no doubt appreciates it.
Austin managed to ease Esme’s mind about Ace’s colic and has offered plenty of guidance, so she might start to view him in a new light.
What if Esme develops a new obsession with Austin?
Could Esme decide Ace needs a new dad – one who’s willing to stand up to Spencer and put him in his place?
Esme slept with Nikolas Cassadine (last played by Adam Huss), so she doesn’t have a problem with men who are a bit older than her.
Austin may look like an attractive and more mature fill-in daddy option for Ace if this keeps up.
Since Austin and Ava Jerome (Maura West) might be headed into romantic territory, it makes sense to put Esme in their storyline.
Esme could fixate on making Austin her man and try to sabotage any love story that might be brewing with Ava.
Of course, Esme could spin out of control and do some twisted things if she doesn’t get what she wants.
There have been concerns about Esme backsliding even without her memories returning, so an Austin obsession could be a path for that to happen.
Whatever the case, it’s an interesting possibility to consider based on Esme and Austin’s interactions.
Although Austin is just being a kind doctor, Esme could misread the situation or just decide she can capitalize on an opportunity.
