In tonight’s NCIS episode, NCIS were called in to investigate an attempted murder. The victim was Logan Donahue. He was stabbed in the stomach with some kitchen scissors and so suspicion naturally fell on the wife. Lieutenant Rachel Donahue was seen leaving the house in a hurry.
Plus, everyone figured it was the wife because that’s usually the case in such disputes. Parker was about to issue a BOLO for the wife when she surprised them all. She came home. She had no clue why NCIS was there or why there was blood in her kitchen. She demanded answers on why they were at her house and Parker was bold enough to say it was because she stabbed her husband.
Not that Rachel remembers doing so. She claims that the last thing she remembers was getting home the night before. Rachel was in the military and she often has to travel a lot for work.
She barely gets to see her husband because she’s so busy. It also didn’t help that Logan has a demanding job as well. They were operating on barely seeing each other and yet Rachel claims they were rock solid. Rachel said she loves her husband. He loves her. She hasn’t been herself in a while because she has been feeling off lately and so she had a workup done with the doctor.
Rachel signed a HIPAA waiver so that NCIS could see her file. She was perfectly healthy. She did ask her doctor for a psychological evaluation only she was all over the place. There was no firm diagnosis. NCIS had a theory she was faking being crazy to get out of murder.
They thought she was working on her defense months in advance and they even got her doctor to agree that she might have been faking her symptoms. It would explain why it was all over the place. They all thought she was faking insanity in order to get out of a murder charge. And Rachel herself was helping in that regard.
Rachel began researching if she was insane or not about six weeks ago. She asked the doctor to run psychological tests on her around the same time. She didn’t have a history of mental illness and so everyone figured she was faking until they saw her psychosis for themselves.
They saw Rachel freak out before passing out. Rachel was later treated and it was revealed that she has been overdosing on a thyroid medication. This medication causes memory lapses. It also caused violent outbursts and so Rachel had been telling the truth that something was wrong with her.
Only she didn’t do it to herself. Rachel never willing took the medication. She has a device that was implanted in her arm about six weeks ago and that’s when she began experiencing all of her symptoms. Rachel wasn’t a killer after all. She was actually another victim. They looked into who would implant the device in Rachel and it turns out that she was put under recently for a root canal. Her dentist has a history of being in money trouble. He magically erased his debt about six weeks ago when the implant was put in Rachel’s arm.
NCIS tracked down Dr. Kimball. He admitted he has a gambling problem and he said he was paid to put the implant in Rachel’s arm. He didn’t know who paid him. It was all done online. He was just the middleman and so NCIS still arrested him, but they also went looking for who would want to harm Rachel. They tracked down the manufacturer of that device that was delivering the medication. It was revealed that the one they took out of Rachel’s arm was a prototype. One that a very small group had access to until Rachel’s husband shut down the program.
Logan got a bunch of people fired from the program. He works with the FDA. He shut down a program he felt was too risky and that program then went to fire about forty people from the implantation program. The people he fired have been sending threatening messages to him. They’ve even threatened to ruin his life. NCIS looked into it and they found out that someone was waiting outside the couple’s house one night and they believed that man was there to readminister the medication through implant.
NCIS did track down the man that sent the threatening email. It turns out he wasn’t the one that drugged Rachel. He was just a blackmailer. He saw Logan swipe one of the implants when he came around to shut down the place and he thought he could blackmail his way into getting a piece of the cut. It was Logan who took the implant. It was Logan whose been drugging his wife. He even had the audacity to play the victim when she came around to apologize to him for stabbing him. And right after that, he checked himself out of the hospital without telling a soul.
Logan went on the run. He didn’t tell his wife he was leaving and so NCIS began looking for him. They found out that Logan has opened several credit cards in Rachel’s name. He wanted rack up some debt in her name to prove she’s financially unstable. It turns out he’s been setting himself up to get financial control over and he started about four months ago. Long before she became “sick”. Logan had been hiding the fact that Rachel’s cousin left her a trust fund worth a lot of money and he wanted that money.
There was just one problem with gaining all those funds. Logan didn’t want to remain married to Rachel and he couldn’t divorce her because of the way the trust fund was established. So, he was drugging her into insanity in order to get a conservatorship over her. He then went on the run when his plan turned against him and he almost died. That’s what happens when you make her wife go crazy. But Rachel hunted him down. She got his confession out of him on why he did it and she made sure to capture it on tape. NCIS had followed her. They arrested Logan and now he faces jail time. Aint that funny!
Kasie also heard she has a mass and so she dug out her New Year goals because she wanted to complete them all, but the Director talked her into living for the day.
