We were expecting this news to arrive, and now it seems as if it’s time for everyone to digest this cold, harsh reality. The couple was married for four years and had a relatively happy time together until his life crumbled in the wake of his drug scandal.
In the court documents, filed by Laura Wasser, Khloe cites “irreconcilable differences” — perhaps the most polite way of putting things. The couple had a prenup in place so the separation of assets will be a relatively simple and painless process, as they’ll both keep what’s theirs. While Khloe is not asking for any form of spousal support, and is encouraging Lamar to honor similar requests, Khloe is adamant that her name be restored. She wants “Odom” removed from her legal name in an effort to purge her of any remaining ties to the NBA player.
What do you think about this news? It was a long time coming and everyone was expecting it sooner or later. For a brief moment, we thought that Khloe and Lamar might iron out the major wrinkles in their relationship. Wishful thinking. Around the time of his birthday, things seemed to be on the mend, but perhaps all those reconciliation attempts were just them taking time to discuss the future of themselves and their marriage.
