Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Deimos’ (Vincent Irizarry) murderer will be revealed this week, but there’s still no official confirmation on who did the deed. DOOL’s weekly preview shows us that Nicole (Arianne Zucker) thinks she’s to blame. She’ll have a flashback of holding the knife while tussling with her ex.
However, this seems like a lackluster conclusion to a twisty tale. Ron Carlivati, the NBC soap’s head writer, has taken this storyline in plenty of directions. In the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, Carlivati disclosed that the original plan was to have Xander (Paul Telfer) murder Deimos for Victor (John Aniston).
Once Carlivati came on board, he decided to switch things up a bit. He kept Victor’s plot, but rewrote it so it didn’t pan out. Deimos was already dead when Xander arrived. Carlivati also explained that the incriminating picture of Chad (Billy Flynn) was added in later. He thought it’d be a good way to reunite Chad and Abigail (Marci Miller).
Days of Our Lives spoilers hint that the killer revelation will affect a hot romance. “When the real murderer is revealed, you will see that affects somebody’s love story in a big way.” Carlivati added that we’d have to stay tuned to see who’s really responsible.
It’s possible that Carlvati was unaware of what the Days promo team would give away. It’s equally possible that Nicole is the final red herring. The last time Days did a murder mystery, they saved the truth for an actual episode. It wasn’t thrown haphazardly in a preview video.
Let’s look at a more creative way for this to play out. We have to remember that Chad (Billy Flynn) was wiping fingerprints off the murder weapon at one point. What if he saw Abigail (Marci Miller) commit the crime and doesn’t remember it now?
The fact that Eric (Greg Vaughan) had the amulet would make sense here, too. He could be hiding Nicole’s involvement, but what about Abigail? Eric would undoubtedly want to protect Abby as well, especially for Jennifer’s (Melissa Reeves) sake.
Abigail might’ve struggled with PTSD while on Halo. She could’ve plunged the knife when she felt cornered. If Chad suddenly recalls the whole encounter, it might lead to an interesting secret. With their wedding coming up, this could cause major drama.
Of course, we can’t rule out Nicole yet either. Days of Our Lives could take the predictable route, but we can hold out hope for a wild finish. We’ll give you updates as other news comes in.
