Nina Dobrev is trying to make a name for herself in Hollywood, but it looks like she still has a lot of work to do. New reports indicate that her latest box office film, ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,’ didn’t do very well in theaters. The film also stars Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose and cost $85 million dollars to make.
Reports indicate that ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ only pulled in an estimated $7 million dollars from 3,600 locations. In comparison, M. Night Shyamalan’s horror-thriller, ‘Split’ made about $14.6 million dollars in 3,015 theaters nationwide.
‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ has so far received lukewarm reviews from critics. In fact, it only has a 42 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the less than stellar reviews, Nina Dobrev worked hard to promote the film. She traveled with Vin Diesel to Brazil for the film’s premiere and even did numerous interviews and appearances. Nina even admitted to flashing a crew member while promoting the film for Men Health’s Magazines. She wanted to generate as much publicity as she could to help promote the film. Unfortunately, it didn’t work they way Nina hoped.
So does this mean that Nina Dobrev doesn’t have a future in Hollywood? Did fans of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ fail to buy tickets to see her on the big screen? Some believe that might be the case. In fact, many ‘The Vampire Diaries’ fans are still rather upset that Nina won’t be reprising her role as Elena Gilbert in the show’s series finale. After all, the show helped make her the household name she is today.
Instead, Nina made it pretty clear that she doesn’t want to return to television work anymore. She wants to work in big blockbuster films and hopefully be the next Angelina Jolie. But with ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ not making as much money in theaters, Nina’s A-list aspirations might not happen. Many insiders say she still has a lot of work ahead of her to prove she has what it takes to make it to the top.
