Amber, who has publicly stated she is bisexual, has had Johnny’s head spinning in circles with jealousy as she continues to flirt with both men and women. Amber is starring in Magic Mike XXL with Channing Tatum and had the media outlets abuzz with their shameless flirting on set. She always succeeds in making Johnny feel old, so he is constantly worried that she will leave him for someone younger.
Amber still likes to go out and party, which isn’t the best scenario for Johnny, a recovering alcoholic. Instead of supporting her man, she makes him feel like he’s got to either keep up with her, or let her go. He is too wary of letting her go party alone, knowing what a free spirit she is, so he joins along. Between the stress of trying to keep his young fianceé happy and the need to keep up with her in the partying department, Johnny has all but hit rock bottom with his drinking. Now, The National Enquirer reports that Depp is in a home-based rehab program, causing him to miss the premiere and promotional tour for his upcoming movie, Into the Woods.
While Disney reps report they are graciously letting him out of his press duties, they are more concerned about their image—knowing Johnny recently made a fool out of himself at an award ceremony where he presented an award while drunk out of his mind. Amber was embarrassed and has pulled away from Johnny since—she has begun seeing him as an old, drunken fool. The attraction has worn off.
Now that Amber is ready to dump her one-time sexy A-list actor, Johnny is realizing the happy life he left behind. Johnny has been drunk almost non-stop since he began dating Amber—living in a sort of haze where he pushed away any doubt or concerns with alcohol. Now that he has had some time without drinking, he is seeing how foolish he was. His former longtime love, Vanessa Paradis, was always by his side, and they had an amazing relationship. When he approached the age of 50, however, everything changed and he was elated by the fact that a young, sexy actress was interested in him. Amber completely seduced him at a time he was vulnerable, and now he is paying the price.
Johnny wants his life back. He feels Vanessa is the best person for him and she supports his sobriety. Johnny feels Vanessa is the person he wants to grow old with.
