Taylor Swift’s last attempt at a film career fell woefully short, as The Giver flopped its way out of the American and International box office. Granted, her role in the movie was absolutely minimal, but you wouldn’t have known that with the way she was promoting it. However, the one or two Taylor Swift movie fans that exist out there will still have another shot at seeing their favorite singer attempt to act again. The National Enquirer reports that Taylor is currently trying to land a role in the new Julia Roberts movie, The Secret In Their Eyes.
While the producers of the film are reportedly very keen on landing Taylor for the part, the Enquirer’s sources claim that Julia Roberts wants her niece, Emma Roberts, to get the role. And even though Emma Roberts really isn’t the best actress in the world, she is at least an actress, not a singer-turned-actress.
Of course, Taylor Swift’s fan base and huge international recognition will guarantee her pretty much any role she wants, so I wouldn’t count on Emma Roberts landing this part if Taylor was really interested. If this was a prestige Oscar picture or a film with a well known auteur director, I’d say that Taylor had no shot. But a supporting part in a small budget movie starring Julia Roberts? Yeah, the producers are obviously going to jump on the chance to cast an actress who is likely to bring more financing to the project.
Then, we’ll be forced to watch Taylor Swift give interview after interview as she makes her second attempts towards a movie career. And the likely scenario after that is that she will once again fizzle out, leading to her running back to music as though the whole acting thing was never serious to begin with.
