The released mountain man races for home at top speed and checks his oxygen gauge. He’s huffing, puffing and almost out of air as he has the place in sight. Someone gives him a new tank. We see it’s Cage who tells the guy they did it – the ground is ours. He tells him the marrow treatment worked. Cage stands looking out at the land around him seemingly safe from the radiation. Jasper tells the others he’s sure Bellamy is there.

Monty says that makes no sense but Jasper says he knows what he saw. Tsing comes in with armed guards and they grab Harper but Tsing says she needs more time to recover and chooses another kid. Jasper tells her she can’t keep doing this and says President Wallace told them they can go. She says he had to step down for health reasons and says she hopes they know they’re all incredibly special to them. Clarke checks with Raven who says Bellamy hasn’t check in yet.

She asks Ryder to wait outside then wonders if something happened to Bellamy. She asks why Raven is focusing on the dam when Clarke told her that acid fog was the priority. Raven says with no information, she can’t work on that. Clarke then rants that she hasn’t built enough reaper repellers. She says she’s leaving for TonDC and they’re all waiting on her to have answers. Raven promises her they’ll be ready then Bellamy radios.

She asks about the acid fog and he says the kids are being harvested one at a time every few hours to a classified level. He says it’s not on Maya’s schematics. Maya shows up and hands him a walkie. Raven says they’re making him mobile so they can talk to him from anywhere. Clarke walks out tells Kane she’s staying there. She says their people in Mt Weather are in trouble. She tells him to go to TonDC in her place. Kane touches her and Ryder pulls a knife.

She asks Ryder to back off then tells him to please go to TonDC. He agrees. She and Ryder leave as Abby comes in. Kane suggests that Abby go too but Clarke says the chancellor is needed there. Kane tells Abby heavy lies the crown and Abby says Clarke shouldn’t be wearing it and he shouldn’t be backing it. She says Sinclair gave her a note that Jaha left. She says he took 12 people and said he was going to find the city of light then would come back to save them.

Jaha and his new tribe make it to where he stayed in the tent with the grounder family. Murphy and the others creep closer and then a grounder hops out with a knife and threatens them. Jaha asks why she’s there alone and she says she and her brother were on the way to the City of Light when the Wastelanders attacked them, killed him and took all their supplies. Jaha says to give her some water but another guy says no when Murphy goes to give her some.

Murphy tells him he’ll kill him (in a non criminal way) if he touches him again. She gulps the water and Jaha says that’s where they’re headed as well. She says her name is Emori and says everyone in the dead zone is looking for the City of Night but most don’t find it. She says if they’ll pull her cart, she’ll show them. He calls Caspian to pull her cart and they head out.

Jasper is up in the ducts and Clarke says the lab should be ahead. He has a handful of possible routes to choose from but then hears a drill and knows which way to go. He creeps up on a fan vent and Raven and Clarke hear the drill. Clarke says it’s bone marrow extraction. They hear Emerson getting a treatment and talking to Cage. He says she said they could live if they let her people go. Cage says that’s okay and says Whitman just radioed about a war council meeting.

They plan to kill all the leaders and Emerson asks to go along. Cage says they’re going to use a missile and this time they won’t miss. They tell Bellamy they heard it all and they try to figure out how to warn them. She tells Raven to try and get the kids safe and the acid fog down. Bellamy asks about his sister and she says she’s there safe. Raven asks Clarke why she lied and she says they can’t have him distracted. Raven hugs her and tells her not to get blown up.

At TonDC, Indra tells Octavia the Ice Nation even showed up and says they may never see a day like this again. She asks Octavia what’s up and she says she’s worried about Lincoln but Indra tells her to focus. Indra says a warrior doesn’t mourn those that are lost until the battle is over. She tells her to go stand guard with the other seconds. Murphy asks Emori why she ditched her home for the promised land. She says it wasn’t her decision to leave.

He asks if she was kicked out and he says he’s interested and wants to hear. She says he wouldn’t look at her the same and he says it would surprise her. She asks about him and he says she’s one of the only people on the planet that doesn’t hate him and she says that interests her. He says he killed two people and tried to kill two more. He says he’s the bad guy. Emori shows him her hand – it’s misshapen – like a lobster claw. She says her people saw her as a stain.

Murphy says screw them and tells her it’s bad ass and not to cover it up. Tsing comes back for another kid and the kids link arms to try and fight the guards. Bellamy is there and grabs Jasper. He tells him next time they come they have to fight back. He says she’s killing the kids and then slips him a gun. He tells him to tell the others and fight back hard next time. Wallace stares at Van Gogh’s Starry Night when Bellamy brings his evening meal.

Wallace turns up his record player and Bellamy sets the plates down on the table. Wallace asks who he is and he says Jasper sent him because Cage is killing the kids. Wallace says he’s a prisoner too but Bellamy says Wallace knows the entire facility. He cleans up the old dishes and Wallace asks who’s helping him. Wallace says he fortified exits after Clarke escaped. He says he doubts they’ll get past level five and Wallace says he can’t help them escape but says he may be able to buy them some time.

Clarke and Ryder ride hard for TonDC and Octavia greets them. She says to take her to Lexa now. She asks if Bellamy is ready and Clarke says he’s working on it. Whitman watches from his sniper post and sees Clarke and says the final target is there and they can commence the attack. Clarke asks to talk in private. She tells her about the missile and says they have to evacuate now. Lexa says no or they’ll know they have a spy.

Lexa says Bellamy’s job is not done and Clarke asks if they should do nothing. Lexa says it will be a blow but the army will be safe in the woods. Lexa says she and Clarke will slip away now and hands her a disguise. Clarke says she provoked Mt Weather. She says they can tell the clan leaders and let them slip out. Lexa says they’ll each tell someone and it will spin out. Clarke tells her this is wrong. Lexa says it’s their only choice and she knows it.

She says Clarke said nothing to even her own people because she knows that. Lexa says people die in war and tells her not to let emotions stop her. They step outside. A guy with a missile launcher comes at Jaha and the others and Emori tells them to load their guns and supplies in the cart. She holds a knife at Murphy’s throat. Jaha tries to reason with her but she demands they get on their knees. She turns Murphy around and he says she’s like everyone else. She whispers in his ear then knocks him out.

Bellamy is in a tunnel talking to Raven. He asks if they evacuated TonDC and Raven says she doesn’t know yet then lets it slip that Octavia is there. He asks how she could keep this from him and she says Clarke was trying to protect him and says he needs to focus on his job. He continues to climb through the access tunnel. Octavia and a guard hear a noise and they pull weapons. Atohl calls her sky girl and says this one is his. He heads off and she follows.

She creeps through the trees and then sees someone. She sees Lincoln and asks what he’s doing. She shoves him of a grounder. He tells her she doesn’t understand and says he can’t fight it. She says he can and he tells her he betrayed her brother and he’s a prisoner because of her. He tells her Bellamy made it and is fine. She tells him to come with her. He doesn’t move and she slams him in the head and says grounders don’t give up. She tells him to come and fight or die alone like a coward.

Jaha tries to wake Murphy and he finally comes to. Caspian says they need to leave and go home. Jaha asks where he thinks home is. Caspian says they have no food or water or how to find it. Murphy says Emori told him due North and Caspian says they can’t trust a liar and a thief. Jaha says if they go North and he’s wrong, they all die. Or they can turn back and live. Murphy asks if he’s ready to give up. Jaha points out the North Star and says – after you. Murphy walks off headed North.

Jaha says the rest can decide for themselves but says he’ll come back for them. Most of them follow Jaha and Murphy. Jaha tells Murphy that’s called having faith but Murphy says he just has nothing better to do. Cage puts in his access code to launch the missile. Whitman sends them target coordinates. Clarke and Lexa are in the woods and Lexa says they need to get farther away. Clarke says they can make them miss. She says if they can find the guy who’s aiming the missile.

She sees her mother and runs off while Lexa tells her not to go back into the camp. They lock in the coordinates as Clarke grabs Abby and tells her she told her to stay back. She says they have to leave now. She begs her mother to come with her now. She pulls her away. Whitman watches the camp. Indra asks Kane where Clarke and the Commander are and they don’t see them so they agree to search the woods. Kane says he’ll tell the others.

Whitman says the final targets are confirmed and they’re go for launch. Cage says to launch the missile. They do. They count down from 10. Abby says she won’t go any further until she tells her what’s happening. The missile hits and they duck as the shock wave rolls over them. Abby and Clarke are both okay but their ears are ringing and they hear screams in the distance. She tells her mom they have to go and says they can’t be here. Abby says – you knew and you let this happen.

Clarke says they had no choice. Abby tells her she doesn’t want to hear this and asks if this was Lexa and not her. Clarke says she can’t tell her that and tells Abby she can’t tell anyone or the alliance of the clans will break and they will lose the war. Abby says she has their blood on her hands and says Clarke will never be able to wash it off but says her secret is safe. She stomps off away from Clarke. Monty asks Jasper what’s taking Bellamy so long and says the guards will be back soon.

Jasper says they have to stick to the plan and fight. The door buzzes and the guards come in. They lock arms and Tsing chooses Monty. Jasper fires the gun but the guy has a vest on it. The kids fight back and then grab some weapons. They subdue them and Tsing takes Jasper instead. She says to search the others and make sure there are no more weapons. They go to take him to the operating room but then the guards and Tsing collapse as radiation leaks in.

They go down and Jasper says it’s Bellamy. Bellamy says – thank you Mr President. Jasper evacuates the kids and then Tsing crawls on the elevator and tries to close the door to protect herself but Jasper blocks it so the radiation can eat at her and says – we hope you know you’re incredibly special to us. Cage comes to confront his dad and asks who helped them. Cage says level 5 was irradiated and Wallace says it was him. Cage says 11 of theirs died and they’ll retake the level.

Wallace tells his son to get out of his sight. Cage says this will all be over soon. He says he bombed TonDC today. Wallace says that silo was installed to protect them and Cage says that’s what he’s trying to do. He says with Clarke and the commander dead, the savages will go back to killing each other and they can take the ground. Wallace says all it cost him was his soul. The guards come for Wallace and hold him down. Cage says he’s freeing him. They shoot him full of marrow.

Cage says the marrow kicks in within 48 hours. He tells his dad he’ll thank him someday and leaves him locked up. Octavia and Lincoln come back to TonDC and see the aftermath of the missile strike. People are dead, others are wounded, many are screaming. Fires blaze all over the village. Clarke also watches this from afar and looks horrified.
