General Hospital (GH) Spoilers were not fooled by the dream reunion Julian Jerome (William deVry) had in his cell last week. Surely Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) would not be taking her seemingly vicious and slightly delusional husband back.
Or would she?
It might not seem like such a delusion if you look back through some of Alexis’ roster of past lovers on General Hospital. Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore), and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) to name a few. It’s obvious that her taste in men draws her to the bad boys. She even has three daughters by three of these nefarious guys.
Despite her attraction to these criminals, Alexis always claims to abhor their line of work and once involved tries to rehabilitate them. It was quite hypocritical that she broke up with Shawn Butler because of his ties to the Corinthos organization only to fall into the arms of Julian Jerome 5 seconds later. Perhaps it’s only okay to be with mobsters higher up the chain of command, perhaps she can’t help herself.
Upon finding out Julian was the one-night stand that produced Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) back in college, Alexis was drawn like a moth to the fire. She had already been attracted to his Witness Protection Program alter ego Derek Wells he used when he returned to GH. It seemed a natural progression despite his mob background.
True to form, Alexis “struggled” with his occupation and wanted him to give it all up in order for them to be together. Once Julian named Rick Lansing, father of Alexis’ youngest daughter Molly Lansing (Haley Pullos) as the unknown backer of the Jerome organization and promised to walk away, Alexis was ecstatic. Molly was outraged and refused to believe her dad had anything to do with Julian and his family business.
Contrary to appearances, General Hospital spoilers agree that Julian seemed to love Alexis and wanted to make her happy even though it went against his entire family background in General Hospital history. The couple grew quite a following amongst GH fans in spite of his lies and eventually sneaking around behind Alexis’ back as he got back into the family business.
Sonny Corinthos, her own children and many others tried to warn Alexis against the relationship and ensuing marriage to Julian. Alexis would not heed their words and eventually found herself at the end of the knife that killed her mother, about to have her neck slit as well! Even after trying to appeal to his love for her, Julian insisted that he must kill her. Ultimately Alexis put that dagger in his back to stop him from killing Sonny.
Many fans of this GH couple are outraged at the seemingly 180 degree turn Julian has taken. They feel as betrayed by the writers as Alexis does by Julian. There’s even been an outcry on social media lobbying for redemption of Julian Jerome and #Julexis.
General Hospital spoilers tease that there may be hope for this couple to reunite. Alexis has put Julian ahead of her daughters’ concerns, turned a blind eye to his involvement in the hit on Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), turned another blind eye that he involved her daughter Christina’s (Lexi Ainsworth) half-brother Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) in a mob war with his father Sonny Corinthos, accepted his son born of a one-night stand with Olivia Falcineri (Lisa LoCicero), and continues to use grandson Danny McCall (T.K. Weaver) as an excuse for being kept alive.
General Hospital Fans…given all of this and more, is it really too farfetched that she will eventually welcome Julian back into her life and her bed?
