The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Summer (Hunter King) will learn that Adam Newman (Michael Muhney) is alive. Executive producer and now, head writer Mal Young will fuel one of the great, triangulated comeback soap stories of all time, while also sticking it to all conspiracy theorists this fall.
Here’s the truth: All fingers that pressed their digital screens with claimed knowledge about Muhney, King and Y&R were purely pushing false narratives. Fake news before that term became popular in the political world.
Make no mistake, many who besmirched any actor on the show, former executive Jill Farren Phelps, or other Y&R connected personas had zero knowledge of anything. How could any individual who wasn’t physically present on the Genoa City set and also has no direct, or indirect evidence promote herself, or himself as an expert? Ah, bravado.
No facts existed and therefore, could never be produced by any assailant. Instead, those knee-jerks formed a pathetic online cabal in an attempt to destroy reputations. Their actions, both individually and collectively were fueled by a zero percent courage ratio.
Now, as another behind the scenes change is underfoot at CBS’ still-reigning steamer, Young possesses the ability to respond to honest fan’s calls that Muhney embody Adam once more. What a deliciously perfect idea. Usher in the return of arguably the most dynamic daytime performer of this era by tapping King and her character to find Adam.
Summer finds her uncle alive and well. Maybe, she even gives him a full hug, just to rub in the inside joke point, while savvy, light-hearted fans roar with applause and wear wry smiles on their lips.
Imagine the ratings boom, while at the exact same moment some of the same shrill voices will start screaming foul. Again, for no real reason. They’ll be declaring that Y&R’s sky is about to fall, forgetting that the show was just renewed for three years.
Instead of Muhney’s career being shattered, instead of King being scapegoated, instead of Y&R’s soap opera legacy being tattered, the only losers will be those who pronounced all three elements dead. All fair-minded supporters of this epic drama and of the genre itself will be elated, while also reveling in seeing justice served.
Zero assailants have any evidence that Muhney groped King, or that King said that was so and therefore Muhney was let go. The same number of protestors also know that Muhney was interviewing for rehire with Y&R months after he was let go, thereby proving said tales false.
Muhney has previously admitted the his ego was too big on the set, that Phelps treated him with respect when he was let go and that he’s sincerely seeking to return to prove himself a second time around. Yes, life can be straightforward. But conspiracy theorists disagree because they try to turn reality into a soap opera, when it’s not.
